ITS Vice Presidency Context:

Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in a sustainable way by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 150 locations.

Our vision is to transform how the Bank Group accomplishes its mission through information and technology. In this fast-paced, ever-changing world, the formulation and implementation of the ITS strategy is an ongoing, iterative process of learning and adaptation developed through extensive consultations with business partners throughout the World Bank Group.

ITS shapes its strategy in response to changing business priorities and leverages new technologies to achieve three high-level business outcomes: business enablement, by providing Bank Group units with innovative digital tools and technologies to transform how they deliver value for their clients; empowerment & effectiveness, by ensuring that all Bank Group staff are connected, able to find information, and productive to accelerate the delivery of development solutions globally; and resilience, by equipping the Bank Group to provide risk-based cybersecurity and robust data protection for a global network and a growing cloud platform.

Implementation of the strategy is guided by three core principles. The first is to deliver solutions for business partners that are customer-centric, innovative, and transformative. The second is to provide the Bank Group with value for money with selective and standard technologies. The third principle is to excel at the basics by providing a high performing, robust, and resilient IT environment for the organization.

WBG Finance (ITSFI) is responsible for providing high quality, streamlined information and technology solutions for the World Bank’s Financial & HR services, which include Human Resources, Corporate Finance, Risk Management, Controls, Treasury, Loans, Accounting, and Concessional finance (handling donor contributions from inception to the point of final disbursement, including IDA, Financial Intermediary Funds and Trust Funds). ITSFI is additionally responsible for building its IT services using a shared platform that provides scale, leverage, reliability, and control while at the same time improving responsiveness to emerging business needs. The ITSFI team is accountable for the implementation of the ITS Strategy supporting WBG core finance business processes.

As a unit within the Finance ITS, ITSBG (Business and General Services) provides state-of-art cross-cutting information and technology applications to support various operations of the finance clients. This is a new position in ITSBG Chennai to deliver IT solutions supporting internal and external client business functions for IBRD and IDA.

Duties and Accountabilities:

Independent contributor IT professional, with in-depth expertise on architecting and managing Datawarehouse and applications on Informatica PowerCenter with the following responsibilities.

The individual will function as a technical SME for the WBG Loans data warehouse. He/she will be responsible for development and maintenance of ETL mappings, Workflows and PL/SQL code. The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge in Informatica PowerCenter 10.x and PL/SQL Programming. Additional areas of responsibility may include project management and supporting downstream systems.

The candidate must be meticulous and possess the ability to lead and prioritize multiple demands from a large user base. The candidate should have deep knowledge of Datawarehouse concepts.

•Leads or participates in design and architecture sessions with key business users, collecting and documenting business processes and requirements for the system.

•Advises business users on standard methodologies for Datawarehouse, development, or integration processes.

•Balances business users requests and requirements with technical constraints.

•Works with business users to understand the requirement and regularly communicate with business users on the status of issues and projects.

•Supports data requests from business users through data analysis and/or by developing ad-hoc queries.

•Troubleshoots performance related issues.

•Writes and reviews technical specifications for planned work, testing and deployment of development projects.

•Designs and develops ETL mappings, mapplets, workflows, sessions using Informatica PowerCenter version 10.x

•Develops Oracle procedure, packages, functions based on the business requirements and rules and schedule them as required.

•Ensures consistent release management, change management and project approval processes.

•Establishes systems to supervise the operating efficiency of existing application systems and provides (or arranges for) proactive maintenance.

•Participates in systems design, working within an established framework. Typically provides direction to a team of staff and contractors in their area of expertise and may be responsible for managing performance of team members.

•Effectively delegates and provides technical guidance and mentorship to team members and review the deliverables to ensure alignment with WBG standards and guidelines.

•Guides the development team to create project and application architecture results / artifacts in line with WBG Enterprise Architecture-reference architecture, guiding principles, standards, methodologies, and best practices.

•Performs Code optimization and strictly adhere to bank coding standards.

•Performs and assists in Unit testing, Integration testing and User acceptance testing.

•Stays abreast of modern technologies, market trends, experiment new tools and emerging solutions that is in line with organization’s strategic goals.

•Works closely with the Information Security (OIS) during various stages of software development assisting in documentation of any artifacts needed for clearance and function as a liaison for various development teams.

•Responds to client queries and provide technical support/guidance to the application support team and coordinate with other ITS teams in resolving day-to-day production issues quickly based on problem criticality.

•Coordinates with on-site counter parts on various responsibilities that are listed above with flexible shift timings.

•Coordinates with contractors from one or more vendor partners and ensure timely delivery with required quality.

 

Selection Criteria

 

•Master’s degree with 5 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Minimum 2 years’ Experience as a technical lead responsible for system design and implementation using Informatica PowerCenter.

•At least 3 years of proven experience in working on Procedures, Functions and Packages using PL/SQL Programming.

•Strong in ETL Development with Informatica PowerCenter 10.x and experience in developing complex ETL mappings and strategies for large data management projects.

•Possess a strong understanding of Datawarehouse concepts and experience working with Star-Schema and Dimensional model.

•Strong PL SQL programming experience in Oracle – creating complex procedure, packages, functions, and triggers.

•Experience in SQL analysis and query optimization.

•Experience with Shell Scripting.

•Strong experience in Writing Low Level Design, Unit Testing Plan, and Unit Test case documentation.

•Strong communication skills and hands on experience in analyzing user requirements and writing technical specifications.

•Experience in working with Agile methodologies and teams.

•Strong communication skills in a professional setting; ability to discuss requirements with a variety of stakeholders.

•Analytical & Problem-solving skills and ability to work in team in diverse/ multiple stakeholder environment and experience in working in a Global delivery environment.

•Ability and desire to keep abreast of changes /feature enhancements to the platform, share best practices and lessons learnt from past implementation efforts.

•Informatica PowerCenter/Oracle Certification is a plus.

•Experience in developing Power BI Dashboards & Reports is a plus.

•Experience in maintaining data models using Erwin is a plus.

•Experience in or exposure to Azure cloud data platform components (Data Lake, ADF, Data Bricks, Azure SQL/Synapse etc.) is a plus.

•WBG experience is a plus.
