What will you do in this position?

Under the supervision of the Head Pharmacist, the Logistics Officer- Warehouse will oversee the reception, storage, order preparation, and loading of commodities of the WFP Health Supply Chain Project for health facilities in Liberia. The project is funded by USAID.

How can you make a difference?

In this position, you will have to:

  • The logistics Officer will participate in the storage and distribution of health products at the CMS.
  • To provide adequate support to all project teams to enable smooth and on-time deliveries of medical items to the validated distribution points.
  • Monitor inventory management processes to track trends and account for the inventory status.
  • Analyse and follow up on maintenance/upkeep works at the level of the warehouses (electricity, air conditioning, lighting).
  • Oversee and monitor the various services provided at the warehouse level (cleaning, rodent control, disinfection, etc.)
  • Be in charge of verifying the documentation attesting to the effective deliveries to the health facilities.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of the warehouse transaction records, including identifying discrepancies, to ensure immediate and accurate reporting of commodity movements in line with corporate requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively internally with other project departments to ensure the information and communication chain.
  • Supervise the work of support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to ensure individual and team objectives are delivered to agreed standards and deadlines for all assistance modalities. This includes the monitoring of warehouse staff security.
  • Contribute to the review of WFP Corporate warehouse standards and procedures to support efficiency and changing business needs.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Education: A university degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Management, Public Administration International Relations, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience and 1 year of post-graduate experience.
  • Experience in managing small teams of staff with related areas of expertise.
  • Experience in international freight management is desirable.
  • Experience in monitoring service providers’contracts and their execution is desirable.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and manage several activities simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Advanced knowledge of logistics operations as well as knowledge of medical logistics/ proven skills in medical logistics.
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related software).
  • Knowledge of WFP warehouse management procedures and good database skills would be an asset

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language.
