The United Nations World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
Food insecurity continues to persist across Somalia due to the combined effects of below-average and poorly distributed rainfall, riverine and flash flooding, limited household access to food due to income constraints and elevated food prices, continued insecurity, and conflict. The WFP Somalia’s four-year Country Strategic Plan 2022-2025 pays an emphasis on flexible modalities of food assistance (e-voucher and mobile money), conflict sensitivity, gender mainstreaming and referral linkages between its programme activities.
This position will be based in Mogadishu and will report to the head of Vulnerability Analysis & mapping. The Market & Food Security Data Analyst will provide strategic and operational support across WFP Somalia emergency response. The incumbent will serve as the focal point to lead the market and economic analysis in consultation with the team leader of Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping.
This position is accountable for the capacity strengthening of WFP Somalia national staff, including the VAM focal points in the area offices in the expansion and testing of the economic and market data collection, analysis and data management systems as well as support market monitoring and assessment activities at the country office and area offices.
