ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
This job is located in a Country Office (CO). The Project Manager reports to the Deputy Country Director for Support Services, DRC CO, with a technical reporting line to the Staff Health Protection Advisor.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
To support WFP staff and family members in DRC in their mission, the DRCMAT (Democratic Republic of Congo Medical Assistance Team) Project Manager (PM), with WFP HQ and Country Office support will establish high quality primary care clinics initially for the 2451 WFP employees/ family members in DRC in medically underserved locations. Once established, DRCMAT will be extended to other UN agencies’ staff and family members.
The aim of DRCMAT is to have a team of doctors/nurses that provide excellent primary care and stabilize emergencies, to offer timely technical input for medical evacuations and provide health education for WFP employees and their family in the locations identified by the Country Office (CO).
In the beginning phase, the Project Manager will guide this initiative to make it operational (to Tshikapa, Kalemie, Kananga, Beni and Bunia) and then once set up, oversee it, providing management from the administrative, budgetary, logistical side working with the doctors and the Country Office Wellness Team.
