The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. We are the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace and stability for populations impacted by conflict, disasters and climate change.
WFP’s emergency response in Yemen is the agency’s largest anywhere in the world, and is the largest sustained emergency operation in history, providing lifesaving monthly food assistance to 10.5 million people most in need. WFP also provides nutrition support to 1.7 million children and mothers, and delivers school meals to 850,000 children each day.
To perform a range of specialised and process-oriented responsibilities related to security operations including monitoring and maintaining security equipment in line with established procedures.
1. Act as the focal point for procurement processes – including creating micro-purchase orders, purchase requests, and Good Receipt notes – and payment coordination of services.
2. Draft Long Term Agreements and waivers for maintenance.
3. Ensure financial mechanisms are completed on time to sustain the continuous provision of static and mobile armed escorts at the area and field offices, thus promoting the effective and timely management of resources.
4. Coordinate with different vendors for installing, maintaining, and repairing physical security equipment.
5. Monitor security works.
6. Support field missions by monitoring the timely submission and approval of security documents enabling programmatic implementations.
7. Update and share staff daily presence lists as well as weekly mission reports.
8. Assist in the daily implementation of physical security measures and procedures, including monitoring CCTV equipment, facilitating visitor and other types of access permits, and liaising with UNDSS and contracted guards.
9. Assist in implementing all security risk management mitigation measures, including minimum operational security standards, to always support compliance.
10. Liaise with technical support units to achieve integrated measures.
11. Draft Memorandums of Understanding for agreements with the Host Government.
12. Draft security-related meeting minutes and follow up on pending issues.
13. Assist the Security Unit in submitting attendance sheets, leave applications, and overtime submissions.
14. Organize security-related training – including coordinating SSAFE attendance amongst all Aden field offices.
15. Ensure all information and files are recorded and maintained for reference.
16. Participate in field security activities by sponsoring gender-based security approaches in the field.
17. Support UN ID requests approvals internally and the issuance with UNDSS.
18. Respond to standard queries and provide timely and accurate guidance.
19. Perform other related tasks, as required.
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Experience: Five or more years of progressively responsible work experience in Security or related Fields.
Language: Fluency (level C) in English and Arabic languages.
