Asia Water Council (AWC) is a leading water platform that aims to provide tangible solutions to resolve water issues in Asia and beyond and support achieving sustainable development with clean and sufficient water. AWC consists of 152 members from 24 countries and actively cooperating with water-related organizations, including governments, academic and research institutions, non-governmental organizations, and civil society, as well as international organizations.
AWC manages the “AWC Water Projects,” where the projects are demand-based to help address water-related issues facing member countries through supporting the development of Project Concept Papers (PCPs) to be submitted to the Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and other financial institutes for funding opportunities. Below are the selected project Concept Notes (CNs) for the 2023 AWC Water Projects:
(1) Lao PDR: Drought Risk Assessment and Sustainable Water Utilization in Affected Province of Lao PDR
(2) Thailand: Enhancing Climate Resilience of Water Infrastructure in Thailand
(3) Bangladesh: Artificial Recharge of Ground Water Aquifer in Dhaka City
Recently, AWC and GGGI have signed an agreement to initiate the Project, which will be carried out until December 26, 2023. GGGI will take the lead in developing Project Concept Papers (PCPs) and its Executive summary based on the selected CNs for the three countries in Lao PDR, Thailand, and Bangladesh.
The Consultant will support the development of the PCP for Lao PDR, Thailand, and Bangladesh. The Consultant will work closely with AWC, GGGI (HQ and in-country consultants), and relevant stakeholders. The Consultant will lead in the consolidation of the developed PCP and deliver the executive summaries for each PCP both in English and Korean. The Consultant will have to meet the deadlines for the requested deliverables indicated in the Agreement and the Terms of Reference (Annex 1).
Under the primary supervision of the Head of the Korea Liaison Unit (KLU) at GGGI HQ, the Consultant will be responsible for the following activities:
1. Provide assistance with conducting in-depth policy and situational analysis
2. Support the elaboration of the Project Concept Note (PCP) development
3. Monitor, track, and assist in the review and development of PCP
Total fee: up to USD 20,000, depending on the candidate’s credentials
