Research Technician
 
ICRISAT seeks applications from dynamic Indian nationals for Research Technician to support ICRISAT’s Crop breeding team under Global Research Program Accelerated Crop. This position will be based at Odisha, India.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 

 

  • Supervise field trials, collect data precisely, and maintain records of all activities undertaken under chilli breeding under the direction of reporting manager
  • Maintain seed inventory and assist in seed production
  • Ensure the research trials are well managed and that there is frequent communication with the team
  • Ensure timely data collection and intervention of suitable agronomic practices at different stages of the field demonstrations in the field and the nurseries
  • Must have knowledge of common pests and diseases and their management in pulses
  • Assist in developing basic technical reports in coordination with project team members
  • Maintaining safety and hygiene standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirement:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree/Undergraduate degree with at least 2 years of working experience in projects related to pulses
  • Familiarity with research operations, field demonstrations, field activities monitoring
  • Ability to drive and travel independently in the state to monitor the trials, and provide supervision to field staff to manage research activities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision and proactively solve problems Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Curiosity and a desire to continuously learn about science
