About the Program:

This internship will be part of the Operations Global/Accounting function. The Accounting Department works with multiple programs and facilitates WRI’s mission through the accurate and efficient processing and stewardship of financial information. You will cover some of the Accounts Payable responsibilities.

This position is remote.

What you will do:

You will be part of the Operations Global Accounting/AP team supporting some of the AP functions: vendor registrations and payment confirmations. You will be supported by an AP staff accountant, who will provide training and ongoing assistance as needed. You will report to the AP staff accountant.

Internship Learning Outcomes:

  • Managing vendor registrations on a daily basis.
  • Working directly with vendors to ensure registrations are completed correctly and timely, verifying required documents, processing data, and following up with the vendors.
  • Managing the payment confirmations process, saving each confirmation to the related payment request, and assigning dates and reference numbers, performed twice a week.

What you will need:

  • Current student or recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, procurement, or related area, or relevant diploma/certificate in accounting or finance.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • You have experience with financial software such as TM1 and Cognos (desirable but training will be provided during on-boarding).
  • You have experience working within teams that are geographically dispersed.

Compensation

The pay for this internship opportunity is $20 for undergrads and $22 for graduates.

Length of Contract:

This is a part- time (20 hours/week), 6-month internship with a flexible start and end date.

Location:

  • This is a remote-based internship with the option to work out of the Washington D.C. office once it reopens.
  • WRI will provide a laptop for the duration of your internship.
