United Nations University for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and of Resources (UNU-FLORES)
UNU-FLORES develops strategies to resolve pressing issues in the sustainable use and integrated management of environmental resources such as water, soil, waste, energy, and other geo-resources that are of concern to the United Nations and its Member States – particularly in developing and emerging economies. Based in Dresden, Germany, the Institute engages in research, capacity development, postgraduate teaching, advanced training, and knowledge dissemination to advance the Resource Nexus. https://flores.unu.edu/.
Adjunct Professor/ Researchers at UNU-FLORES
UNU-FLORES invites applications from highly motivated and committed local and international academics and experts with relevant experience in the field of the integrated management of environmental resources, who are available for short-term assignments/projects on the Resource Nexus, and who wish to support the Research and Innovation Development, Education and Capacity Development, Outreach, Advocacy and Impact of the Institute.
Academics and experts applying to the roster are available for consideration whenever relevant opportunities arise. They can be available rapidly and go through an expedited contractual process. Experts joining this roster are also invited to actively apply to other vacancy announcements posted on our website. Selected candidates holding the Professor title shall be considered as an Adjunct Professor, those not holding this title shall be considered as Adjunct Researcher. This is an unpaid Academic Affiliation Agreement (AAA) that offers the opportunity to access the UNU resources, link to the UN system and opportunities for Joint research projects, publications and outreach activities.
Successful candidate will additionally have the opportunity to complete potential specific deliverables that are remunerated and independent of the Academic Affiliation Agreement.
The following indicates a generic terms of collaboration. UNU-FLORES may select candidates from the roster once there is a suitable opportunity in the future and a more specific description of the terms will then be shared.

Duration of contract
The successful candidate will be retained under an Academic Affiliation Agreement and/or Consultant Contract (CTC).
Academic Affiliation Agreements (AAA) are possible for a period initially up to 12 months, with an option of subsequent extension.
Consultant Contract (CTC) are possible for a period initially up to 12 months. Consultants engaged by UNU may not provide services for longer than twenty-four (24) months within a thirty-six (36) month period.

UNU-FLORES is not responsible for any health insurance arrangements. These contracts carry no entitlement to annual leave or sick leave.
Travel Considerations
Should “mission travel” be required, UNU will cover applicable travel costs. However, this will be subject to the following prerequisites: Medical Clearance, Security Clearance through the Travel Request Information Process (TRIP) system, completion of the BSAFE online course, travel Visa, and liability waiver. Trip prerequisites will be met at the expense of the consultant.
Travel cost will be calculated based on economy class travel, regardless of the length of travel. Costs for accommodation, meals and incidentals must not exceed applicable daily subsistence allowance (DSA) rates, as promulgated by the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC at http://icsc.un.org).
