OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Culture (ADG/CLT), the general supervision of the Chief of the Executive Office and the direct supervision of Senior Finance and Administrative Officer (AO/CLT), the incumbent provides financial and administrative support in full compliance with the UNESCO rules, regulations and procedures to assist the CLT Programmes Colleagues in the implementation of Culture (CLT) Programme, projects and activities and the monitoring of funds under the Regular Programme (RP), Special Accounts and Voluntary Contributions of the Culture Sector.

In particular, the incumbent shall:

Long Description

  • Provide assistance to CLT Programme colleagues in the preparation of budgets and other documents related to programme and projects (cost estimates, project documents, amendments, budget revisions and overall budget monitoring in accordance with UNESCO’s rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Compile and review data.
  • Provide support to CLT Programme colleagues in HR and finance-related matters.
  • Act as Financial Certifying Officer up to the authorized level delegated by the Chief Financial Officer in the review and approval of any financial commitments.
  • Prepare correspondence, memoranda and tables as requested, maintain files and establish a reference system (hard-copy and electronic), assist in the organization of meetings, compilation of data.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Completed secondary, technical and/or vocational school.

Work experience

  • A minimum of 3 (three) years of work experience in administrative tasks and/or related field.

Work Experience

  • Relevant experience and/or familiarity with the functioning of the United Nations system or international organizations.

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of UNESCO’s work and familiarity with the programmes and activities of the UNESCO Culture Sector.

Languages

  • Knowledge of another/other official language(s) of UNESCO (Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Russian).

UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan etc.

The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 37 833 Euro.
