ICRISAT seeks applications from dynamic Malawian nationals for the ‘Officer – Administration’ position. This position is based at Lilongwe, ICRISAT Malawi.
ICRISAT is a non-profit, non- political organization that conducts agricultural research for development in Asia and Africa with a wide array of partners throughout the world. Covering 6.5 million square kilometers of land in 55 countries, the semi-arid or dryland tropics has over 2 billion people
and 644 million of these are the poorest of the poor. ICRISAT and its partners help empower these disadvantaged populations to overcome poverty, hunger and a degraded environment through better agricultural production systems.
The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is a pioneering, international scientific research for development organization, specializing in improving dryland farming and Agri-food systems. The Institute was established as an international organization in 1972, by a Memorandum of Agreement between the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research and the Government of India.
ICRISAT works with global partners to develop innovative science backed solutions to overcome hunger, malnutrition, poverty and environmental degradation, serving the 2.1 billion people who reside in the drylands of Asia, Africa and beyond. The Institute is headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana, India and has regional centers in Mali and Kenya, with dedicated research stations in Niger, Nigeria, Malawi, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Senegal.
Key Responsibilities: 
  1.  Liaise with HR to ensure recruitment offer letters are issued, smooth on-boarding and off-boarding of staff.
  2. Maintain all staff personnel files and related documents.
  3. Liaise with the HR and Country Representative to make sure all statutory laws are followed and file all documents relevant to ICRISAT’s  policy and Laws of Malawi.
  4. Liaise with the Appointed Pension Manager for the staff pension fund to ensure staff information is updated and communicated
  5. Supervise drivers, cleaners, and guards.
  6. Ensure ICRISAT’s assets are kept and used efficiently and effectively.
  7. Keep records of infrastructure.
  8. Manage all vehicles insurance assisted by Drivers cum general assistants.
  9. Oversee fleet maintenance including periodic maintenance  schedules.
  10. Provide the accounts with relevant documentation for asset disposal and procurement into the registry.
  11. Liaise with ICRISAT HQ and external organizations as appropriate and assigned by the Country Representative.
  12. Process residence/work permits, diplomatic cards for Global Staff.
  13. Process VISAs for visitors and arrange for logistical support.
  14. Support ICRISAT policy implementation.
  15. Manage legal matters with local and ICRISAT HQ legal counsel.
  16. Apply for duty waivers for clearing ICRISAT consignments through MRA.
  17. Provide support and guidance in a)staff welfare; b)procurement; and c)disciplinary issues.
  18. Awareness of ICRISAT’s obligations as a diplomatic Institute.
Eligibility:
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration/Management or other relevant subjects with proven office management and personal assistant/ secretary skills.
  • At least three 5 years of relevant work experience in Administration/Management.
