1. Objective of the assignment
The external contractor will provide administrative support related to the review, proofreading, and updating of PCT information resources, primarily in Japanese.
2. Deliverables/services
Upon specific request from WIPO, the external contractor shall:
(a) Translate and format extracts from the (English) PCT Newsletter into Japanese.
(a.1) Prepare documents to allow for practical advice search, and Annual Indexes in Japanese for the PCT Newsletters.
(b) Review and proofread the linguistic correctness of updates to the PCT Applicant’s Guide in Japanese.
(c) Format PCT seminar documents in Japanese.
(d) Convert PCT information resources in Japanese into other formats, e.g., PDF with security.
(e) Update PCT information resources in Japanese on the WIPO website.
(f) Translate and format PCT information resources into Japanese for upload onto the WIPO website as required.
(g) Provide administrative support for PCT seminars and meetings in Japan.
(h) Conduct preliminary research and compile reference information on Japanese PCT users as required.
(i) Provide other administrative support as requested.
3. Reporting
The external contractor will report to the Head, PCT Legal and User Support Section.
4. Profile
• Excellent translation skills (English-Japanese).
• Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PDF, PowerPoint Presentation, and other relevant IT applications).
• Excellent Japanese writing and editing skills.
Desired:
• Significant expertise with PCT terminology in Japanese.
Language:
• Fluency in Japanese as a mother tongue and excellent command of English.
Experience:
• Professional Translation (from English to Japanese) experience is desirable.
• Working experience in an international organization or similar organization is desirable.
5. Duration of contract and Payment
The duration of the contract will be from January 1 to December 31, 2024. During this period, the external contractor will provide monthly invoices based on the number of hours determined by the designated WIPO official at a rate of 50 CHF/hour up to a maximum of 768 hours per 12 calendar months.
