Description
The RISE mission is one of three in-orbit servicing missions under implementation within the Clean Space Office as part of the Space Safety Programme. The RISE mission is planned for launch in the 2027 timeframe with the objective of performing attitude and orbital takeover (AOCS takeover) of an operational satellite.
You will manage the RISE project and will report to the Head of the Clean Space Office within the Space Safety Programme Office.
Duties
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
- responsibility for the end-to-end procurement and technical management of the RISE project, covering both the development of the satellite, within the agreed technical specifications, cost and schedule;
- managing the industrial RISE contract(s), including negotiation of any changes;
- managing the RISE ESA Project Team and associated support from the Directorates of Technology, Engineering and Quality, Operations, and Commercialisation, Industry and Competitiveness, ensuring that all appropriate information is available to all project participants so that they can discharge their responsibilities efficiently within the agreed framework;
- implementing the milestone reviews, including Key Performance Gates, in close cooperation with the Inspector General’s Office;
- interfacing with ESA delegate bodies, such as PB-SSA, in support of the Clean Space office;
- reporting to the Clean Space Office.

A Master’s degree in aerospace engineering is required for this post.

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.

In accordance with the European Space Agency’s security procedures and as part of the selection process, successful candidates will be required to undergo basic screening before appointment conducted by an external background screening service.
In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.
