The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with a contract duration until October 31, 2024. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany.
Prepositioning relief items has been a preparedness measure set up by many humanitarian organisations all over the globe to be better prepared to respond to disasters in country. Emergency Supply Pre-Positioning Strategies (ESUPS) Working Group’s objective is to support the coordination of national and regional pre-positioning strategies of relief items to increase time and cost effectiveness in stock delivery during emergencies.
As Advocacy and Communications Officer ESUPS, you will focus on revising, fine tuning and implementing the advocacy strategy and start the implementation. On the Communications side, you will carry forward the communiction strategy already in place.
Your responsibilities
- Adjust, fine-tune and implement an effective advocacy strategy based on ESUPS target audiences and project goals
- Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance visibility of the project and promote its advocacy messages (media coverage, events, social media posts, etc.), also in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
- Lead on monitoring and evaluation of advocacy-related objectives, mapping of key stakeholders, influencers, and opportunities, Advocacy Working Group meetings and events
- Develop good knowledge of the humanitarian logistics sector, its processes, key decision-making structures and emerging initiatives, and how to influence them on issues related to stock pre-positioning, collaboration and pooling resources
- Represent ESUPS in relevant national and international events and networks
- Implement and adapt ESUPS communications strategy, based on target audiences and project goals (with a focus on the Advocacy part)
- Conceptualize, draft and distribute content, including online content (for website and social media), publications, training material, advocacy campaigns
- Maintain, update and populate all sections of ESUPS website
- Compile surveys, analyses and stats to inform regular reports to donors
Your profile
- A university or college degree in the fields of Advocacy, Communications or Humanitarian aid
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in working in Advocacy and abilities to create communications contents
- USAID/BHA donor experience is an asset
- Solid knowledge of designing and publishing software (Canva, InDesign, Photoshop); familiarity with data visualisation and mapping tools is an asset
- Excellent communication skills as well as persuasiveness and assertiveness towards partners, stakeholders and decision makers, and ability to build relationships with stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds
- Fluency in English required, professional knowledge of Spanish or French is an advantage
