Your team

Within the Network Management Directorate, the Operations Planning Unit facilitates, in response to the requirements of SES II and in partnership with all ATM actors, the design, planning and deployment of operational improvement measures for the European ATM network that will meet European-wide agreed targets.

Your role

Your role will be to:

  • Coordinate the development of network, regional, FAB and TMA airspace projects to contribute to the achievement of network operational performance targets.
  • Conduct the analysis and validations of route network, free route airspace utilisation rules, civil/military airspace structure availability to allow safe and efficient implementation.
  • Lead the production of regular operational performance evaluations and forecasts in the field of airspace design to allow monitoring of performance achievements against European targets.
  • Ensure the integration of FAB and TMA airspace design projects into the overall European ATM network to ensure network connectivity and interoperability.
  • Contribute to the development of the European Route Network Improvement Plan including airspace management procedures as to ensure the integration of all the Free Route Airspace (FRA), sub-regional airspace projects.
  • Coordinate with the various stakeholders (ie: OPS, ANSP’s, airlines, military etc) in view of collecting contributions as support to airspace design activities.
  • Conduct the analysis and validation of the RAD measures, including their impact on the network.
  • Provide advice, as required, on the development of flight efficiency indicators and methodologies.
  • Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • University studies of at least 4 years in a relevant domain or university studies of at least 3 years plus 1 year relevant professional experience, or professional training of an equivalent level.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience or knowledge with airspace design and Route Availability Document (RAD), including planning tools and data.
  • Knowledge or understanding of Free Route Airspace and airspace simulation validation techniques.
  • Project management and presentation skills.
  • Analytical: you analyse information and identifies relationships.

  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English at level C1. The selected candidate will be required to become at least a basic user of French at level A1 before the end of the probation period.
    The levels relate to the Common European Framework of References for languages (CEFR).
