Purpose of Job

The EBRD is seeking a professional with relevant experience, capability and enthusiasm to become part of Climate Strategy and Delivery Team in Turkiye.

 

The Analyst will contribute and support a wide spectrum of work streams, including green/climate policy dialogue activities, country and sector strategies, green business development, delivery of the climate policy programs/ projects, analysing the needs and availability of donor funds, and supporting visibility and communication efforts. The role interacts with different departments within EBRD and requires working with a range of colleagues across the Bank.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Principal, Climate Strategy and Delivery, the Analyst will be responsible to:

Management & Outreach:

  • Support the local and wider CSD team in the day-to-day management, particularly within the Turkish context
  • Engage in green/climate policy dialogue activities and support the implementation of country and sector strategies through public and private sector engagements
  • Assist sector teams on the green business development activities
  • Support the delivery of climate policy programs/projects
  • Identifying opportunities for donor-funded activities and preparation of project proposals for donor approvals.
  • Manage consultants and ensure the quality of deliverables

Analysis & Research:

  • Carry out research and analysis including monitoring and analysis of national climate policies
  • Analyse existing and emerging EBRD priorities and strategies, provide guidance to other team members on specific topics.
  • Prepare briefings notes, documents, and presentations on EBRD’s green agenda.

Communications & Visibility:

  • Contribute to the planning and production of communications and visibility material.
  • Support the organization of dedicated green/climate events
  • Work with the Bank’s Communications Team to develop and prepare written products, such as case studies and presentations, project briefs to raise donor visibility and keep external and internal stakeholders engaged and informed.

The responsibilities of the Analyst are designed to allow the Analyst to progressively undertake more complex tasks and build the scope of responsibilities based on acquired experience and expertise. In order to perform the tasks outlined above, a high degree of numeracy and accuracy are indispensable.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in engineering, economics, finance, international development, environmental and/or social sciences. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in energy/climate change policy and strategies, environmental and climate finance, sustainability, circular economy and/or development challenges in Turkiye.
  • Ability to draft complex papers relating to climate change, environment, energy and public policy for internal and external audiences, and the ability to generate compelling, articulate content.
  • Experience in managing projects with public/private stakeholders and communication with senior government officials on policy-related issues.
  • Excellent oral and written English and Turkish skills.
  • Working well as part of a multi-national/multi-cultural team and managing multiple tasks to meet varying deadlines.
  • Computer literacy (advanced Excel/Powerpoint, MS Word).
