Purpose of Job:
The Analyst, CSRD, SEMED, will assist in the delivery of the EBRD’s Green Economy Transition (GET) strategy in the SEMED region.
Operating out of Cairo (preferable), the Analyst will report to both the Egypt Country Director and the Associate Director (AD), Head of SEMED, CSRD. The Analyst will support the AD, Head of SEMED, CSRD in leading the Bank’s green business at the critical interface between the Bank’s decentralised country management team and the expertise of the large CSD team in HQ, with the objective of ensuring coordinated delivery of GET investment and policy objectives across multiple public and private sector counterparts. The Analyst’s work will contribute to the fulfilment of the EBRD’s strategic objectives to be fully Paris Aligned (as of 1 Jan 2023), to be a majority green finance institution by 2025, and to support countries and clients with accelerated low carbon and climate resilient pathways.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the AD, Head of SEMED, CSRD – the Analyst will support in:
• Definition of the strategic approach for GET business and policy delivery in the region(s), under the supervision of the Associate Director, Head of SEMED, CSRD; ensure that GET business and policy objectives are reflected in the specific country strategies.
• Support and coordinate, where needed, the implementation, monitoring and review of various assignments, including Technical Assistance activities, Policy dialogue activities or investment-related analysis.
• Developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships, dedicated local/regional networks and market intelligence – with public authorities, the private sector and civil society – so as to lay the ground for impact.
• Ensure delivery of green policy actions, including implementation monitoring and impact analysis.
• Act as a member of CSD regional network, contributing to a culture of openness, excellence and delivery, with a particular focus on trouble-shootingtroubleshooting of obstacles to delivery.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Qualifications and Skills:
• Result-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work to and meet tight deadlines and to plan and organise work unsupervised in a logical and efficient manner.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee assignments outsourced to external consultants.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (required). Working knowledge of Arabic and/or French is a plus.
Experience and Knowledge:
• Relevant degree in climate science, engineering, economics, finance, energy, environmental science or related discipline. Master’s degree would be advantageous.
• 3+ years ofRelevant experience in supporting policy initiatives, preferably climate-related/green investments.
• Good understanding of climate change science and the approaches, methodologies, and the implications of climate change in terms of economic and social impacts.
• Understanding of political, governance, technical, commercial and economic matters relating to sustainability and climate action, and the role of different stakeholders in them.
• Experience of working in one of the SEMED countries would be advantageous.
• Experience of and judgement on integrity matters.
