Plan International Bangladesh-PIB through refreshed country strategy committed to continue supporting children and youth, especially girls and young women, throughout their journey from childhood to adulthood, facilitating their stated wish to become active citizens and safely and equitably contribute to the economy of Bangladesh. Its specific country program vision is: “By 2030, children and youth will be recognized as leaders of change in gender norms and make informed decisions about their lives”. The reaming next six years of strategy period the role of girls and youth from all identities in a greater social movement will be extended, supported and acclaimed, enabling them to step out of prescribed gender roles, break the poverty chain, and manage acute shocks and stressors, including those created by climate change.
The Role
In collaboration with Plan International Norway, Plan International Bangladesh has started a project with the financial support of Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) Telethon that aims to reduce the Early Child and Forced Marriage- CEFM in Bangladesh, and the target district is Kurigram in particular. The integrated project is working in the areas of youth governance, sexual reproductive health and rights, CEFM system strengthening & monitoring, and girls’ economic empowerment which are ultimately contributing to combating early and forced marriage. Through this project, the girls and young women along with the boys and young men will be empowered to drive a systemic change for achieving gender equality and promoting an enabling environment for youth especially for girls and young women to build their future aspirations and make decisions. The project is being implemented from January 2022 up to December 2025.
The Technical Specialist-SRHR is a key technical position for Plan International Bangladesh to reach Outcomes 1 and 3: Youth, especially girls and young women, have obtained foundational capabilities to grow as active citizens and are engaged in the social movement for challenging gender norms and building girls’ agency.
This position requires technical skills in developing technical guidelines, training manuals and conducting training for the respective partner organizations. The position holder will be responsible for strengthening the prevention and responsiveness of the child protection systems and frameworks by promoting and enforcing the Child Marriage Restraint Act 2017. The job holder will maintain close coordination/functional relationships with the Plan’s regional colleagues, concerned authorities, institutions/departments, and like-minded organizations for better quality implementation of SRHR services. S/he is responsible for monitoring SRHR programme quality, documentation, and dissemination of the project’s learning and good practices.
