Purpose of Job:

The Analyst is responsible for contributing to special initiatives, such as integrated products that combined access to finance via EBRD credit line and advisory, or thematic and regional programmes overseeing new product development initiatives as well as managing selected donor relationships to mobilise funding and ensure timely reporting. In addition, the Analyst, under guidance from more senior colleagues, is responsible for analysing, monitoring, assessing impact and reporting on the portfolio of SME F&D activities across respective country of operations and conducting research to support SME F&D strategy and operations. These insights contribute to managing donor relationships effectively, mobilising funds for operations and assisting on all management decision-making concerning SME F&D.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

• Support, under guidance from more senior colleagues, the successful development of global programmes and products that involve key stakeholders from across the bank and key players in the private sector

• Support, under the guidance from more senior colleagues, delivery of special initiatives such as integrated programmes, thematic or regional programmes that for instance require coordination between SME F&D country teams and regions and/or partnership with other teams in the Bank.

• Monitor progress of country programmes against set targets and country operational plans to inform management decision-making, strategic and operational reviews

• Support (SME F&D) Managers to establish and sustain good relations with donors and other stakeholders to identify and recommend funding leads and support the development of funding proposals, drafting and negotiating with donor especially on budget and results

• Analyse, monitor, assess impact and report on donor programmes, including financial reports, to inform funding donors on progress and impact

• Support (SME F&D) Managers and country teams to design and review new market development activities, new programmes or multi-country initiatives, guiding country teams through procurement where necessary, to maximise the transition impact and sustainability of SME F&D

• Support and identify improvements to SME F&D operating procedures and to the SME F&D Management Information System (MIS) to ensure present and future activities can be managed efficiently and effectively

• Contribute to knowledge management efforts by identifying, collecting and reviewing case studies for showcasing best practice and support Managers to develop new product

• Support the development of global communication and visibility material to promote SME F&D activities to internal and external stakeholders

• Analyse operational and project spending across all 29 countries of operation for special initiatives to produce funding projections when required, to complete the full picture of future funding available and highlight shortages to more senior colleagues.

• Review contract terms of reference and budgets received from project-focussed colleagues, including liaison between all parties, in order to ensure that business needs are in accordance with prudent procurement and use of donor funds, and process CRFs to ensure consultants are mobilised.

Knowledge and Experience

• Relevant work experience, preferably gained from a major commercial bank, financial institution, donor organisation, consultancy or international support programme.

• Demonstrable experience in finance and contract management, especially in relation to donor-funded activities.

• Knowledge of donor organisations and experience in donor fund mobilisation desirable.

• Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the EBRD mandate.

Technical Skills

• Strong numerical and financial skills and ability to assimilate and analyse large volumes of data.

• Excellent written (report drafting, correspondence) and verbal communication skills

• Ability to operate sensitively in a multicultural environment and build effective working relations with internal and external stakeholders clients and colleagues, especially colleagues in 25 countries and other EBRD departments.

• Willingness to travel to and work in EBRD countries of operation.

• Willingness to improve financial skills through study towards relevant professional qualifications or appropriate training.

• Ability to work well within a team.

• Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines.
