Purpose of Job
The focus of the role is to support the CTO (Chief Transformation Officer) Office in orchestrating and enabling the Bank’s journey towards more sustainable ways of working and reduce the carbon footprint of its internal operations. Part of a wider CTO Transformation office team, the Analyst – Performance works with experts in the team and across the Business to support the CTO capability in managing Performance initiatives and primarily the Bank’s internal Sustainability approach. The Analyst Sustainability functions is to gather and analyse emissions and energy efficiency data, maintain datasets of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, generate sustainability reports, documentation, and research to support primarily the Bank’s emission reduction journey.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Support the Principal Ways or Working and Sustainability, the Performance team and the wider CTO by:
- Being responsible for the quality and accuracy of the Bank’s overall emissions reporting in line with best market practice including International Sustainability Standards Board, Greenhouse Ga protocol and Science Based Targets (SBTi)
- Supporting in the accurate assessment and reporting on the carbon footprint of the Bank’s internal operations feeding into the Bank’s corporate and external reports
- Tracking energy and fuel consumption, and costs savings impact of alternative energy strategies
- Contributing to the team goals under the Bank’s sustainability approach promoting sustainable ways or working and changing mindset engaging network and communities across the Bank
- Working with operations teams on their reduction plans to gather, analyse emissions and energy efficiency initiatives, set energy reduction goals, and track progress of implementation
- Generating sustainability reports, documentation and research to support primarily the Bank’s emission reduction journey.
- Assist CTO in the preparation of internal and external reports on the Bank’s GHG approach, methodology and overall performance
- Support the streamlining and automatization of data collection and analysis for internal operations emissions and, more broadly, for the overall sustainability approach
- Supporting the team in researching, drafting and preparing presentation material for a wide range of environmental, climate and nature-related topics.
- Support the CTO in planning and organisation of meetings.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently;
- Effective time management and organisational skills and ability to multi-task without losing attention to detail
- Experience with sustainable and carbon emissions data analysis and reporting
- Quantitative/numerical skills are critical with the ability to measure sustainable internal targets and provide insights through analysis
- Demonstrated, strong analytical and presentation skills, experience with PPT required.
- Experience as a business analyst in the area of sustainability and environment or consulting role with demonstrated ability to support multitask and prioritise
- Educated to graduate level – environmental engineering, environmental science, other technical discipline
- Previous experience in financial services sector and banking
- Working knowledge of the sustainability, Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) and Carbon accounting trends (International Sustainability Standards Board, Greenhouse Gas protocol and Science Based Targets)
- Demonstrable track-record in one analytics, modelling sustainability plans and monitoring progress and impact on emissions
