Your responsibilities
In this role, you will join the Accelerator Systems Department (SY), more specifically the Beam Instruments Group, which is responsible for designing, building and maintaining the instruments that allow observation of the particle beams and the measurement of related parameters for all CERN accelerators and transfer lines.
This position will contribute to the Future Circular Collider project where designs for the next generation of higher performance particle colliders are developed.
You will:
– work on high bandwidth, fast time resolution measurement of beam-generated radiation with electro-optical (EO) techniques;
– study and implement detection systems for longitudinal diagnostics for the Future Circular Collider project (FCC), as well as possible applications to the Large Hadron Collider;
– design and simulate electro-optical detectors as well as experimental tests at CERN or other FCC partner institutes.

What we offer
About us
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter – fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
