Duties and Responsibilities
THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING
Within the Technical Cooperation Bureau (TCB), the Revenue and Product Management (RPM) Section, is responsible for revenue-generating activities in the Organization under the auspices of the Ancillary Revenue Generation Fund (ARGF). The functions include the marketing of revenue-generating products emanating from ICAO intellectual properties. The section is equally responsible for recommending, developing and executing advertising and promotional campaigns. The section leads actively in the development of new products and services and recommends new business opportunities. The revenue-generating products and services consist of and are not limited to events, partnerships and licensing of ICAO intellectual properties, ICAO periodicals and web listing advertising sales, data and statistical products and traditional print and electronic publications. The section also provides reproduction and distribution services to internal and external clients.
The Reproduction Services Unit (REP) is responsible for the printing and distribution of ICAO publications, documentation, print-on-demand, training material, etc. It is expected that the Assembling Operator will work collaboratively with other members of the unit and provide support, including the assembly of internal and external print orders and preparing them for distribution. The incumbent will assist the distribution team when required.
The incumbent reports directly to the Head of the Reproduction Services Unit (H/REP). It is expected that the Assembling Operator will be responsible for fulfilling internal and external printing and distribution requests for the organization.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Function 1 (incl. expected results)
Assembling, collating, and gathering various printing jobs, achieving results such as:
Prepare the printed document to be collated:
• Assemble documents (with equipment or manually);
• Process jobs through the internal workflow system (EDEN);
• Cut large sheets of blank paper to the required size using the industrial cutting equipment;
• Cut printed material into the final size and/or in the size needed for the next step of the production workflow;
• Perforate parts of documents to be placed under cover (Acco-Press, Acco-Fastener, Cerlox and Wire-O).
Function 2 (incl. expected results)
Performs book-binding operations on the perfect binding equipment, achieving results such as:
• Assist the main operator on the perfect binding equipment;
• Perform a manual count of the books produced;
• Remove the books from the conveyor and place them in even piles on a utility truck, ready to be trimmed.
Function 3 (incl. expected results)
Applies lamination film on cover paper, achieving results such as:
• Operate the lamination equipment from setup to production of the lamination of cardstock.
Function 4 (incl. expected results)
Processes shipping requests, achieving results such as:
• Pack, weigh and stack bound and finished products on pallets ready for shipping;
• Pick and pack;
• Process mail and packages worldwide and track them to their destination;
• Process shipments through DHL, FEDEX, or other online shipping and freight applications.
Function 5 (incl. Expected results)
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
Educational Background:
High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by formal specialization/training in the printing field.
Professional Experience and Knowledge:
Essential
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a printing production environment.
• Computer skills including MS Office
Desirable
• Experience in logistics and using shipping software
• Work experience in the public sector and/or large international organizations.
Languages
• The work requires functional reading, writing, and speaking abilities in English and French.
• Knowledge of any of the following languages of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable.
Additional Information
It should be noted that this post is to be filled for a period of 12 months with a possibility of an extension. This is a full-time position. In addition, tasks and duties must be performed on-site at HQ Montreal from Monday through Friday (working remotely does not apply).
Please note that the monthly rate for Band A varies from CAD 3,991 to CAD 5,172.
