Purpose of Job

The Assistant Analyst, Planning, External Communications helps to plan, support and monitor media activities. This includes coordination of media inquiries to the EBRD, pitching interviews and Op-EDs to media, maintaining the media database, and monitoring media coverage. They will also help to organise media events, publish and distribute press releases to targeted media lists. The Assistant Analyst, Planning, External Communications needs to interact with media, members of general public and with other internal teams. They might also provide specific media relations coverage in a particular country or countries of operation, as needed and in cooperation with a media officer.

Acountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate flow of media inquiries to ensure an adequate, fast response and smooth interaction with the media
  • Monitor and to prepare media coverage reports to the Bank so that officials are aware of risks, impact and engagement
  • Pitch and arrange interviews to support media outreach
  • Handle inquiries from the general public and coordinate responses in order to ensure that the Bank meets its AIP obligations
  • Maintain contact databases and other archived material to ensure future access to relevant information.
  • Help to issue media news releases
  • Take primary responsibility for media relations in a specific country or countries of operation or for a particular sector/area
  • Any other tasks that may become relevant, as mandated by the line manager

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience

  • Experience in working with international media (including top tier) as well as media from the Bank’s regions
  • Academic or professional qualifications in media and communications desirable
  • Good knowledge of the Bank
  • An awareness of the EBRD regions and reputational risks to the Bank in them and major shareholder countries
  • Very good understanding of the media and news cycles as well as social media
  • Diplomacy, tact, courtesy and a talent for dealing with people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Understanding of measuring and evaluating communications work, especially in the media and digital spheres.

Technical Skills

  • Very good written and oral English language communications skills.
  • ITC literacy needed to grasp new tools such asTrello, Cision, possible AI apps etc
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to use own initiative and work independently while also seeking advice at the appropriate time
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of another relevant EBRD regional language a strong asset
