Associate, Advisory, Office of the Inspector General – GL C – Defined duration until December 2027

The advisory practice of the OIG supports the Global Fund’s mission of ending AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria as epidemics by generating “insight for impact”. The team helps the Global Fund address tough issues and new challenges, improve its ways of working to operate more efficiently, and seize opportunities to enhance its impact in fighting pandemics and building a healthier, more equitable world.

The Associate, Advisory, will work under the leadership and supervision of the Advisory Manager and Advisory Lead, supporting the advisory team in strategic engagements through diverse analyses and activities, such as performing diagnostic assessments and benchmarking, contributing to the definition of improvement opportunities and to drafting options and recommendations for senior management’s consideration.

The Associate, Advisory will implement best practice project management to support the Lead and Manager in driving effective
decision making. They will help facilitating the input and buy-in of key stakeholders across different levels and across functions of the Global Fund.

Over the course of one year, the Associate, Advisory can expect to work on 2-3 projects on different topics, supporting several Global Fund leaders and functions.

The Associate, Advisory is expected to be impact-oriented, solution-driven and able to work with multi-disciplinary teams in a diverse
environment. They are expected to have a very collaborative attitude and strong client orientation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the definition, structuring and implementation of strategic projects (e.g., operating model reviews, business improvement and transformation initiatives), under the guidance of the Advisory Manager and Advisory Lead
  • Help the advisory team develop and refine options for decision making, recommendations and implementable action plans, with key owners
  • Perform assessments and analyses of various kind, synthesize findings from analyses to generate fact-based insights; communicate them in an effective manner to clients and other stakeholders, including drafting compelling presentations
  • Support the Advisory Manager and Lead to present analyses and insights to clients through oral briefings and written reports
  • Bring relevant expertise and best practice approaches to problem-solving
  • Apply best practice project management principles
  • Perform other duties as required, to enable the advisory team to deliver successful advisories.

Subject to change by the Executive Director at any time at their sole discretion.

Qualifications

Essential:

Master’s degree with outstanding record of academic achievement in Business Administration, Financial Management, Global Health, or any other relevant field.

Experience

Essential:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a management consulting firm and/or in a management consulting/strategy team within an international organization
  • Project management expertise with the ability to deliver impactful changes
  • Demonstrated experience managing and delivering on timelines with tight deadlines and across disciplines
  • Evidence of effective and successful stakeholder management at operational and management levels within an organization
  • Significant experience preparing high-quality, professional documents for senior audiences
  • Experience within multi-cultural and international environments and organizations
  • Proven success in collaboration, teamwork and knowledge sharing.

Desirable:

  • Experience in transformations, organizational effectiveness, operating model reviews and/or strategy projects
  • Experience in public health or international development
  • Experience and knowledge related to public health, HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria
  • Experience living and/or working in a country supported by the Global Fund

Competencies

Languages:

An excellent knowledge of English and preferably a good working knowledge of French. Knowledge of other languages would be an asset.

  • Problem-solving skills to contribute to the team’s collaborative brainstorming and ideation sessions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship building skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team and with colleagues from different backgrounds.

Special travel requirements: The position may require travel during advisory assignments covering program and project sites in developing countries. Depending on specific assignments and time of the year, travel may be up to 20-40% of the time.
