This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi-cultural environment. We also offer relocation support.
The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Corporate Services Directorate – Group Digital Office (GCS-GDO), Platforms & Services Department (P&S), Infrastructure Services Division (IS), Network & Data Centre Unit (NDC) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, an (Associate) Data Centre Cloud Solution Architect*.

This is a full time position at grade 4/5 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Purpose

Join us as an (Associate) Data Centre Cloud Solution Architect and become a key player in our cloud journey! In this role, you’ll manage our technology roadmap for comprehensive cloud infrastructure services, leveraging industry-leading platforms such as AWS and Azure. You’ll lead architecture design and oversee project delivery while ensuring cost-effective and efficient use of cloud resources. Your work will drive innovation, enhance operational excellence, and optimize performance, directly contributing to the achievement of the EIB Group objectives.

Operating Network

You will report directly to the Head of the Network and Data Centre Unit. You will work in close collaboration with variety of IT teams in particular with infrastructure and application teams. This dynamic role not only offers the opportunity to impact our digital landscape but also enables you to engage with diverse teams and projects.

What will you do:

  • Lead Cloud migration projects, take charge of end-to-end cloud migration projects, ensuring everything runs smoothly, on time, and within budget, while maintaining top-notch quality
  • Regularly connect with stakeholders to gather their needs, make sure they’re accurately translated into technical solutions, and keep everyone in the loop with consistent updates
  • Work closely with technical teams to design and implement effective cloud migration strategies
  • Oversee the daily operations of our cloud services, ensuring everything runs smoothly, performs optimally, and any issues are quickly resolved
  • Keep an eye on cloud service health metrics, and act swiftly to resolve any performance issues or disruptions
  • Implement and maintain cloud best practices throughout the organization, ensuring top-tier service resilience, security, and compliance
  • Act as the main point of contact for all infrastructure cloud service-related questions, concerns, and issues, ensuring prompt and effective resolutions
  • Work closely with vendors and third-party providers to ensure optimal service delivery, support, and enhancements
  • Continuously assess, research, and integrate the latest cloud technologies, tools, and services to keep us competitive and ensure operational excellence

Qualifications

  • University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) preferably in computer science, information technology or related disciplines
  • At least 3 years of experience delivering IT Infrastructure Services with exposure to building, maintaining, and securing cloud technologies, cloud platform operations and cloud governance.
  • Experience working with public, hybrid and on-premises private clouds
  • Experience in on-premises infrastructure related technologies (compute, storage and backup and recovery)
  • Experience of delivering IT cloud infrastructure projects and transformation programs, including rollouts would be considered an advantage
  • Experience on troubleshooting cloud infrastructure issues.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good command of the other. (Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage).

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
