The Associate Director of Development (ADOD) will support the senior members of the corporate partnerships team to create and implement fundraising strategies for US-based companies. The ADOD will develop and oversee a portfolio of established corporate partners that support CARE’s work in a variety of industries (food and agriculture, garment & financial services) and will fulfill critical internal communication functions, including liaising with the team and the country offices in preparation of strategic donor materials, briefing documents and grant reports. In addition, the ADOD will support the team’s efforts to strengthen and expand sector strategies. Location: Atlanta, GA, Washington DC, or New York.

Responsibilities:

  • Account management-steward existing relationships to deliver on commitments and position CARE for partnership growth opportunities that align with CARE’s overall revenue and impact goals.
  • Internal communications-a significant internal communications role, working closely with team members to prepare briefing documents and other related materials in alignment with strategic funding opportunities, along with supporting scheduling and logistics for key meetings.
  • Prospect and sector research-maintain, update and develop research profiles for CARE’s current corporate donors and prospects. This will include creation of original research and updating existing information regarding funding opportunities for CARE’s strategic and sectoral priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, international development, public administration or equivalent experience
  • Five years of experience in some combination of the following: applicable work in fundraising, particularly with an understanding of the intersection of corporate partners and NGOs; experience in a large INGO; experience managing a diverse fundraising portfolio
  • Experience working with Board Members and Executives to develop funding and solicitation strategy
  • 1-2 years experience curating special interest fundraising events, ie bringing together supporters in a salon environment to drive fundraising and advocacy goals
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and develop simple, practical actions to take forward
  • Proven ability to communicate skillfully and persuasively- both orally and in written form
