FUNCTION:
The Associate Director – Partnership and Business Development will provide strategic and technical leadership in business development, partnership, communication, and networking efforts for scaling up Heifer International Bangladesh’s vision and signature program priorities. The Associate Director will lead resource mobilization functions through facilitating the fundraising process and the growth of partnerships that provide funding and other means of support, networking with outside funding agencies, NGOs, and government entities. The position will also lead communication and knowledge management functions, and responsible for maintaining the relationship with key stakeholders to promote Heifer’s work in Bangladesh. S/he will work closely with relevant business development and programs units at Headquarter, Asia Regional, and Country teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES: (including approximate percentage effort)
Networking, Cultivating Relationships and Partnership Development (35%)
Responsible for leading coordination networking, cultivating, and nurturing relationships with donors/partners/private sectors/government bodies
- Lead the development and implementation of resource mobilization and partnership strategies to drive the growth of resources and partnerships in accordance with Heifer Bangladesh’s signature program vision.
- Provide resource development intelligence on donor landscape, trend of donor interests, and upcoming opportunities and bring to the attention of the program team for decisions on next steps.
- Lead for expanding and nurturing currently established networks/relationships, and follow up on emerging relationships with potential funding agencies and key partners.
- Ensure Heifer’s participation in major donors/partners/government organizations and public events.
- Showcase project progress and achievements to donors via field trips.
- Take leadership for in-country networking through participation in forums/working groups/platforms.
- Research and map potential partners to enhance business relationships.
- Promote linkages to institutional funding sources and corporate sectors.
- Build profile of the organization among donors/clients/prospective consortium partners.
- Lead consortium partners selection, negotiation, and agreements.
- Work closely with and support the Asia Regional team and Heifer HQ resource mobilization teams, Heifer Korea, and Heifer Netherlands in cultivating relationships for fundraising, program strategy, and partnership development.
Program/Project Development (30%)
Responsible for leading new project/program development and fundraising for Heifer Bangladesh
- Lead the development and execution of new project ideas, and technical and cost proposals.
- Strategic Proposal Lead/Coordinate (as appropriate) in writing grant concept notes/proposals in response to opportunities for submission to donors.
- Lead in finalizing application packages (concept note, logical framework, proposal, budget, and supporting documents) ensuring compliance with donor guidelines and internal/external requirements.
- Lead the development/update and implementation of resource mobilization strategy and plans for Heifer Bangladesh.
- Provide intelligence on donor landscape, and upcoming opportunities for decisions on the next steps.
- Lead the agreement process (MoU, Teaming Agreement, Grant/contract Agreement, etc.) with partners and donors.
- Build the capacity of relevant staff and provide constructive feedback to write quality proposals including concept notes for the idea bank, through skills and knowledge sharing.
Communications and Knowledge Management (30%)
Responsible for leading communication and knowledge management efforts and developing the strategies of Heifer Bangladesh
- Lead and manage the communication and knowledge management functions to build Heifer’s visibility and networking in accordance with Heifer Bangladesh’s Communication Strategies and action plan.
- Lead the development of communication strategy and plan for Heifer Bangladesh.
- Assist communication staff to develop pitch narratives, capacity statements, visibility, and communication materials (flyers, brochures, newsletters, and reports as needed) according to Heifer branding guidelines.
- Ensure the development and updating of Heifer Bangladesh’s website and all social media sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
- Lead the development/updating of brand and communication guidelines for Heifer Bangladesh and its projects following Heifer’s branding policy.
- Identify PR and media opportunities and develop key messages for promoting Heifer Bangladesh and its strategic objectives.
- Lead the marketing, fundraising, and community-related events of Heifer Bangladesh.
- Lead the communication between Heifer HQ and the country program for large grant acquisitions.
- Ensure good communication with the country team (Programs, MEL, Operations, Finance) regarding grant requirements and planning.
Management and Capacity building of the Communications and Knowledge Management team (5%)
- Supervise and manage Communications and Knowledge Management staff for efficient work and maintaining compliance.
- Provide proper coaching/training to equip Communications and Knowledge Management staff to deliver assigned responsibilities efficiently.
- Provide orientation and training to Heifer Bangladesh staff on branding, networking and communication to increase Heifer’s visibility with ensuring proper guidelines.
May perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field plus seven (7) years of related experience with at least two years in a supervisory role, OR
- Master’s degree in relevant field plus five (5) years of experience in international development and resource mobilization, fundraising, grant management, partnership development, and communication and networking.
- Excellent marketing and networking skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational skills including strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets PowerPoint, excel, photoshop, designing software, video editing, web designing, and desktop publishing.
- Ability to initiate and cultivate relationships with government entities, potential donor partners, media personnel, and journalists.
