The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. We work at the invitation of governments to support them and the private sector to create and sustain high-quality health systems.
CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work in conjunction with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. We are investing in horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems through programs in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing. With each new and innovative program, our strategy is grounded in maximizing sustainable impact at scale, ensuring that governments lead the solutions, that programs are designed to scale nationally, and learnings are shared globally.
At CHAI, our people are our greatest asset, and none of this work would be possible without their talent, time, dedication and passion for our mission and values. We are a highly diverse team of enthusiastic individuals across 40 countries with a broad range of skillsets and life experiences. CHAI is deeply grounded in the countries we work in, with majority of our staff based in program countries. Learn more about our exciting work: http://www.clintonhealthaccess.org

Position Overview:
Assistive technology (AT) is an umbrella term covering the systems and services related to the delivery of assistive products and services. Specific examples include eyeglasses, hearing aids, wheelchairs, and prostheses, and the service delivery systems that supply these products. The 2022 Global Report on AT reveals that more than 2.5 billion people need one or more assistive products. Yet nearly one billion of them are denied access, particularly in LMICs, where access can be as low as 3% of the need for these life-changing products. The AT sector faces multiple barriers both in supply of appropriate, affordable, and quality products and in demand for these products by users, service providers, and national health systems.
CHAI is working with governments and partners to set up and strengthen systems that integrate the provision of AT in the public sector and create sustainable demand and supply for appropriate and quality assistive products. CHAI supports the development of data systems, leadership and coordination structures, national policies and strategies, procurement guidelines, product specifications and provision standards, as well as government programs and market-oriented interventions aimed at improving accessibility and affordability of AT. This involves work in a growing number of countries around the world.
As Associate Operations, you will support the coordination and implementation of a growing portfolio of AT grants. You will be expected to: 1) support project management of existing grants; 2) facilitate knowledge sharing between countries and document/present best practices; and 3) provide general support for new initiatives or country- and global-level AT program activities where needed. You will be expected to work with CHAI country teams daily as well as interacting with partners and technical experts around the world. This work will require you to communicate in a clear and compelling manner, build effective working relationships, work independently and flexibly, and have a deep personal commitment to producing the highest quality results.
Key skills required for this job include excellent written and oral communication skills and highly organized with excellent attention to detail. CHAI places great value on relevant personal qualities: resourcefulness, entrepreneurialism, tenacity, independence, humility, and work ethic.
Expected travel is less than 15%.
