This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi-cultural environment. We also offer relocation support.
The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for Group Corporate Services Directorate – Group Digital Office (GCS-GDO), Platforms & Services Department (P&S), Operations & Services Desk Division (OSDK), Monitoring, Automation & Orchestration Unit (MAO) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, an (Associate) IT Monitoring Engineer*.

This is a full-time position at grade 4/5 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Purpose

Would you like to contribute to the Digitalisation strategy with your knowledge of the monitoring domain? In this role you will manage the daily operations (RUN) and delivery of the monitoring of infrastructure and business application technologies.

Operating Network

You will report to the Head of Monitoring, Automation and Orchestration Unit, which is responsible for providing IT services for monitoring, automation, and orchestration.

You will collaborate with colleagues from across the EIB Group, including external consultants and suppliers of software and/or related services.

Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the implementation of the EIB strategy for effective use of IT technology in the domain of monitoring systems
  • Ensure that projects are managed and that solutions are designed and implemented in line with internal standards and procedures and that best practice, security recommendations and industry standards are respected
  • Manage and coordinate all project phases and project teams (consultants) for the implementation of complex projects
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and reports to proactively identify and address potential issues.
  • Collaborate closely with the IT Security Unit, keeping up-to-date on key vulnerabilities, risks and audit
  • Leverage technology to automate manual tasks, and seek efficiency gains
  • Drive problems and incidents resolution in coordination with the Incident and Problem Manager
  • Maintain hardware and software in the latest levels of patching and supported versions
  • Be responsible for framework contract management related to Monitoring scope (including license and subscription usage) in collaboration with the Head of Unit
  • Manage the relationship with the managed service provider, ensuring service delivery aligns with agreed-upon SLAs and KPIs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams regarding monitoring services provided by the managed service provider.

Qualifications

  • University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) preferably in computer science or related disciplines
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in monitoring IT infrastructure or application, with exposure on application logs and/or application performance monitoring
  • Experience in running daily operations as well as IT projects
  • Proven experience of monitoring tools deployment, provisioning and configuration (e.g. Splunk, Dynatrace)
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
  • ITIL knowledge in Change, Release, Incident and Problem Management
  • Previous exposure to Artificial Intelligence would be highly advantageous
  • Experience in delivering Monitoring solution to cloud and hybrid environments would be an advantage
  • Experience managing or working with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) is a significant advantage.
  • Understanding of procurement and service contracts, including procuring software and services in a public sector environment would be an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (**), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
