The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Portfolio Management and Monitoring Directorate (PMM), Transaction Management Department (TM), Project Finance Division (PF), Energy, Environment and Others Unit (EE&O) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Associate) Portfolio Management Officer – Project Finance*.
These are two full-time positions at grade 4/5 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

As (Associate) Portfolio Management Officer – Project Finance you will carry out a regular financial monitoring (from first disbursement) of a portfolio of signed EIB Project Finance operations inside and outside the European Union and Candidate Countries. You will handle event resolutions for low and medium complexity post-signature events, including negotiation and implementation of solutions, thereby ensuring the stability and solidity of our portfolio of outstanding loans and protecting the Bank’s financial interest and reputation. The exact composition of the portfolio will depend on your experience in Project Finance operations and may also depend on language skills.
PMM monitors counterparts and financial contracts and acts on contractual events under its responsibility, as well as on distressed transactions, to protect EIB’s financial interest and reputation. The Directorate is responsible for the Financial Monitoring, Event Resolution and Restructuring of (i) EU counterparts and non-EU counterparts and projects, (ii) EU and non-EU full invested funds and equity as well as (iii) EU and non-EU private sector distressed transactions. PMM/TM/PF comprises 2 units: One covering mainly Transport, Health and Education sector related projects, (PF/THE), and the other covering mainly Energy, Environment and Others sector specific projects (PF/EEO). PMM is also responsible for developing and updating Bank-wide Financial Monitoring guidelines.
Under the supervision of the Head of PF Division and the Head of the EE&O Unit, you will cooperate closely with other Directorates across the Bank, in particular with the Origination, Project, Legal, Risk Management teams, and with the other Divisions in PMM.
You will also have external contact with counterparts, other transaction stakeholders, corporates, syndicate agents, co-lenders, external advisors and sector specialists.

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
