Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located at the Programme Office in Trinidad and Tobago (POTTO), Regional Office for Central America and the Caribbean (ROPAN), Division for Operations (DO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) based at CARICOM IMPACS, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. The Associate Programme Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer of the eLearning Programme, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Section (CPCJS), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA), UNODC, based in Vienna, Austria.

Responsibilities

Within limits of assigned authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following specific duties:

• Support the coordination for the development of online training courses and localizations in other languages with respective counterparts (i.e. relevant UNODC Sections/Units at HQ and in the field)
• Contribute to the development and update of the UNODC eLearning platform.
• Provide innovative inputs to the development of new eLearning activities.
• Liaise with Latin American UNODC field offices on issues related to online capacity building.
• Develop new localizations and update existing ones using relevant tools and software.
• Support the implementation of procedures and systems for the timely completion of eLearning orders and tasks.
• Track and monitor the eLearning Localizations flow to ensure that deadlines are met on time and with quality, as specified in the donor agreements and service orders.
• Contribute to the identification of technology needs for the identification of software and systems that might contribute to the improvement of quality or timely delivery of the production assignments.
• Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
• Perform other work-related duties, as required.

Has ability to manage the production of eLearning materials and training courses, as well as to provide advice on the pedagogical aspect of the productions. Education

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, political science, international relations, public administration, or related field is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A first-level university degree and no experience will be accepted for candidates who have passed the Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P).

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in project management and administration in the field of eLearning OR the successful completion of the Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P) is required.

Work experience managing e-learning development tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline, Rise) is desirable.

Work experience within the United Nations system or similar international organizations is desirable.

Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.

Special Notice

This is a project post. This position is temporarily available for 364 days. Actual filling of this temporary vacancy and actual duration is subject to availability of the post and funding. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.

While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post.
