The UNESCO Prize for Global Citizenship Education, supported by the Republic of Korea, was adopted by the Executive Board of UNESCO with decision 220 EX/13.I, in September 2024. The Prize shall be awarded biennially for an initial period of six years (2024-2029). The Prize shall consist of two awards of US $50,000 each, recognizing achievements in two categories: (1) youth-led organizations, and (2) individuals, institutions, non-governmental organizations or other entities, who have made outstanding contributions to, and achieved remarkable outcomes in, promoting GCED.
Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General, the overall guidance of the Director of the Division for Peace and Sustainable Development, and the direct supervision of the Chief of Section on Global Citizenship and Peace Education (ED/PSD/GCP), the incumbent is responsible for the administration, management, and overall coordination of the UNESCO Prize for Global Citizenship Education.
Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for carrying out the following tasks and responsibilities:
1. Project support
2. Budgeting and Financial support
3. Monitoring, reporting and evaluation
4. Communication and advocacy activities related to the Prize
5. Support to the Global Citizenship and Peace Education section
Contribute to UNESCO activities related to the Global Citizenship and Peace Education section, with special focus on global citizenship, peace and human rights education, and the follow up to the 2023 Recommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights and Sustainable Development, and help coordinating engagement of Member States and partners in these areas.

UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan etc.
The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 82 413 USD.
