Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences (ADG/SHS), the overall supervision of the Director of the Division for Social Policies (DIR/SOP), the general supervision of the Chief of the Sport Section (SHS/SPR) and the direct supervision of the Sport Section’s Programme Specialist, the Associate Project Officer will support the launch, coordination and implementation of Component 1 of the project ‘Fostering positive social transformations in AlUla’, which aims to empower young people to lead social transformation in their communities through grassroots sport projects and sports related trainings.
The Associate Project Officer will support the development, fundraising, coordination, and implementation of future pilots of the Youth Accelerator Programme as part of plans to scale the programme. The Associate Project Officer will carry out these tasks in close consultation with the Sport Section’s Programme Specialist, the Royal Commission of AlUla and other relevant delivery partners or UNESCO field offices.
This Component centres around piloting the first edition of Fit for Life’s Youth Accelerator Programme. Through expert-led workshops, young leaders in the region will gain skills to design, deliver and evaluate community-based sport initiatives which improve well-bring, employability and social cohesion. They will receive guidance from international experts and gain professional experience via work placements with Fit for Life partners.

UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan etc.
The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 78 134 US $.
