Your team

Within the Directorate Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre, the “ATM Training” service is a certified training provider operating under EU regulations. The service is responsible for developing, delivering and maintaining training (internal and external) for ATC students & ATCO’s. The “ATM Training” service also provides support and competence in the realisation of ATM related projects at MUAC.

Your role

Your role will be to:

  • To contribute to the development of the content, delivery, and maintenance of the unit training, the continuation, and the development training for operational staff.
  • To act as course coordinator by providing guidance and coaching to students, ensuring the availability of training documentation and equipment.
  • To prepare examinations, assess and monitor students’ progress, and provide regular oral feedback and progress reports.
  • To ensure training standards by monitoring the training methods applied, and provide guidance and advice to OJTI staff.
  • To advise within the scope of expertise and assist the Training Team as and when required.
  • To hold and maintain a valid STDI (synthetic training device instructor) endorsement.
  • Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

Completed university studies of 4 years attested by a diploma in a relevant area (Aeronautical engineering, Air Traffic Management, etc.) or a completed ATC training.

  • Hold a valid EU 2015/340 ATCO license and ACS rating.
  • Hold a valid OJTI or STDI endorsement.
  • Internal candidates should check on the intranetto see what level of in-house experience is considered equivalent to educational qualifications where appropriate.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience.
  • Experience in a Control Centre with a traffic complexity* comparable to the one of Maastricht UAC would be considered an advantage.

    *Complexity in terms of multilayer sectorization, climbing and descending traffic, military traffic/exercises, multiple crossing points and multiple aircraft profiles

  • Experience in giving classroom courses, conducting examinations and assessments
  • Knowledge of the best practices in teaching methods, testing and assessment, and learning styles
  • Experience with advanced ATC systems (advanced FDPS functionalities, 4D profile calculations, etc.)
  • Understanding of CNS Systems and Simulator Tools
  • Understanding of Human Performance Limitations, Assessment, and Validation
  • English Language Proficiency (ELP) level 4 certificate

  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English at level C1.
    The levels relate to the Common European Framework of References for languages (CEFR).

  • Duration of appointment: This is an appointment for a determined period of 5 Year(s). It could be extended up to a maximum of 9 years or converted into an undetermined contract.

    The internal staff member with a determined contract will be offered, in principle, an appointment for 5 Year(s) with a maximum total duration of 9 years.
  • The successful candidate shall be appointed at the grade set out in this vacancy notice, or if a group of grades has been published for a job level, in principle at the basic grade of the published job level.
