This position serves as a Technician for the Streaming & Broadcasting team at CSIS. Primary responsibilities include operation of all Audio Visual (AV) equipment and basic Information Technology (IT) support for in-building and virtual event requests at CSIS headquarters. The AV Technician will serve as the onsite AV/IT point person for events, meetings, and other AV issues and respond immediately to telephone calls, emails, and personnel requests for support.

This person plays a key role in the day-to-day function of CSIS’s virtual operations and will work directly with the Streaming & Broadcasting team, as well as closely with the IT team. We plan to invest into this position in terms of skills development and further trainings/certifications.

This is a full-time, salaried, non-exempt position. The minimum salary for this role is $55,000/yr.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Troubleshoot system problems to quickly restore normal operation of conference rooms and other AV issues including but not limited to staff computers and offices
• Operates and troubleshoots production systems for virtual and hybrid productions
• Assist Producers with livestreaming events
• Video editing of streamed events
• Assist with system and equipment maintenance and repair to maintain high performance quality and long-term reliability
• Communicate with the building staff and have a strong presence at CSIS as the go-to AV/IT person for virtual event/meeting issues
• Set-up and assists with Video Teleconferences (VTC)
• Communicates well to ensure capabilities, standards, and best practices are in line with expectations from programs and the executive team at CSIS
• Keeps up to date on the latest trends and technology for video production and consumption in social/digital
• Eager to learn about signal path and AV equipment leveraged for live event coverage
• Other relevant duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

• One year or more of work experience being responsible for A/V technology in a live production environment (V2, A2, L2, theater, or broadcast technician) desired, or an equivalent educational experience is required
• Technical or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Solid understanding of IP-based technology and modern communication infrastructure including Zoom & Microsoft Teams
• Proficiency with Windows and Macintosh operating systems
• Experience with NewTek, Dante, AMX, & Crestron equipment is a plus
• Video editing experience and familiarity with Adobe Premiere is a plus
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment and maintain superior customer service demeanor while working with C-suite executives and experts
• Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects at any given time
• Eager problem solver, has a can-do attitude, and is cool under pressure
• Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and meet the demands of a complex work environment
• Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
• A team-oriented individual
• Flexible hours for availability
• Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50lbs & climb ladders to service equipment
• Interest in current events, national security & foreign policy is a plus
