Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is based in New York and is located in the Operations, Coordination and Liaison Unit (OCLU) of the Operations Support Section (OSS), within the Operations Service of the Pension Administration, United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund.
OCLU ensures the liaison between the Fund and the Member Organizations at the operational level, provides regular training to Member Organizations’ Pension Focal Points and Staff Pension Committee Secretariats on the Fund’s processes. OCLU administers the participation process as it relates to electronic data exchanges between the Fund and its Member Organizations, including Human Resources interfaces, data quality assurance, interaction with
the employing offices on missing separation documentation, management and follow-up of the non-actionable and human resources data feed workflows.
The incumbent reports to the Chief of Operations, Coordination and Liaison Unit under the overall guidance of the Chief of the Operations Support Section.
Responsibilities
Within limits of delegated authority, the Benefits Assistant is responsible for the following duties:
a) Coordination and Liaison:
• Provides assistance in support of planning, implementation activities/processes and preparation for support operations activities for a large and complex programme of work of the Operations, Coordination and Liaison Unit (OCLU) to ensure a smooth and rapid processing of pension benefits.
• Serves as focal point for administrative coordination of OCLU project implementation activities, involving liaison with internal organisational units and Member Organizations to to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions.
• Participates in the training activities related to the OSS work, including the basic preparation of training material, and compilation of relevant information.
• Provides general office assistance; responds to complex information requests and inquiries; reviews, logs and routes incoming correspondence; sets up and maintains files/records; organizes meetings, training, workshops; and handles routine administrative tasks.
b) Data Interfaces:
• Enters data and/or correct data related to Fund participation that is taken in the context of development/enhancement of Human Resources and Financial interfaces with Member Organizations which includes automation of the information exchange between the Fund and the Member Organizations.
• Compiles, summarizes, and presents basic information/data on specific enhancements to the current Human Resources as well as future financial interfaces such as validation of data and automatic voiding of redundant workflows.
c) Open (non-actionable) Entitlement Workflows:
• Drafts correspondence on missing documents and pending cases-related issues and ensures follow-up up with participants or Human Resources focal points to collect Payment Instructions and other relevant separation documents.
• Provides guidance and training to new/junior staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the area of employee benefit administration, finance or human resources or related area is required.
Experience in analyzing and presenting data using MS Excel and MS Office is desirable.
Experience within a post-employment benefit scheme is desirable.
One year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
