Salary: £47,000 – £50,000 (inclusive of Inner London weighting)

We’ve got an opportunity…

The British Red Cross has a fantastic opportunity for a collaborative and analytical individual to join our International team as a Business Development Manager. This role is ideal for someone who has experience of working closely with both fundraising and programme teams, ensuring partner-led development and design of programmes which appeal to donors.
There are two roles on offer here;
Our first role would be the Africa region (West & Central and East & Southern). For this role, we ask that the applicant be fluent in French, as an essential quality.
Our second role would be the MENA/Europe region.

You will play a key role in scoping opportunities and working with country offices and partners to ensure high quality programme and proposal development. As a crucial representative for the region, well versed in the British Red Cross’ humanitarian impact, footprint and strategy. You’ll closely and collaborate with our programmes and fundraising teams, particularly Heads of Region and Country Managers.

About you…

In order to be successful in this position you must have the following skills and experience:

Experience of working in the international humanitarian and development sector in a programme development role, preferably working in humanitarian contexts.
Proven track record of successful programme development securing large and/or complex tenders or grants with a range of multilateral and bilateral donors, including FCDO.
Passion for working with partners and familiar with consortium working.
Skilled in strategic thinking in relation to programme design and how best to work collaboratively with fundraising teams and a range of income streams.
Proven track record of humanitarian diplomacy skills, negotiation and influencing.
Strong commitment to localisation and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.

About the team

As a member of the International Directorate you will be part of a directorate responsible for BRC’s international humanitarian response and disaster management, support to resilience programmes and organisational development of our partner Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world. The work of the International Directorate also includes humanitarian policy and advocacy activities and upholding and promoting International Humanitarian Law. British Red Cross’ international work is carried out in coordination and partnership with the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement.
