Overview RTI’s Laboratory Sciences business units have conducted natural sciences and engineering research for more than 30 years for both federal government and commercial clients. Our experienced team of scientists and engineers along with advanced instrumentation and laboratory facilities performs research in the fields of health, energy, and environmental sciences. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and outgoing candidate to support marketing and business development efforts aligned with our business growth strategy. In this new and exciting role, you will work with senior technical experts, laboratory management and project and proposal leaders to identify and pursue clients and potential new areas of business for the laboratory sciences. You will perform market research including analyzing client strategic plans, identify federal business opportunities and requests for proposals that are announced or published by federal clients, analyze market opportunities for relevance to RTI’s laboratory sciences, and coordinate discussions with existing and new clients regarding potential new business topics. Additionally, you will also coordinate and communicate with other RTI business development staff and attend cross-functional business development and proposal meetings to share business intelligence and discuss new business opportunities that may involve multiple RTI research groups, working with technical and RTI communications staff to prepare and publish marketing communications and material. Responsibilities Research accounts, identify key contacts, connect with prospects, and generate interest in business unit’s services and products through timely, regular outreach. Conduct background research for pitch meetings, help with development of BD collateral (e.g., marketing brochures, pitch decks, social media postings), document activities. Help to organize, schedule and participate in client meetings and coordinate follow-up items. Use marketing and sales information services and platforms to support actions required for all phases of the sales cycle – from opportunity identification and lead generation though closing. Participate in internal marketing, account planning and sales pipeline meetings. To be successful in this role, you will be equipped with strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with a highly professional presence, allowing you to effectively interact with senior clients and colleagues. You are ethical, confident, and creative, approaching challenges with a “can do” attitude while remaining open to feedback and learning. Your ability to prepare, proofread, edit, and present documents and presentations makes you adaptable to various audiences, from the public to executive-level and external client groups. A solid understanding of government-funded research proposals and projects is highly desirable. You are committed to fostering collaboration and maintaining positive relationships in a team-oriented environment. In fast-paced settings, you exhibit flexibility and excel at prioritizing multiple tasks and work streams, ensuring timely execution of deliverables. Your advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, enables you to support high-quality output across all projects. Qualifications Bachelor’s level degree Minimum of 3 years’ experience in scientific or technical business operations, sales and/or marketing. Ability and willingness to be a resident staff member at RTI’s headquarters in Research Triangle Park, NC. Ability and willingness to travel when and as needed.
