Job Summary:

Analyzes the operations of a department or functional unit with the purpose of developing a general systems or reporting solution to a business problem that may require automation. Specific duties include assessing the business data model, improving/streamlining business processes, and integrating technology, as needed, with the business functions. Specific activities may include participating in client needs assessments as well as evaluating platform feasibility and business and technical software requirements. Position is responsible for gathering business requirements, conducting data analysis, impact assessments to understand business and application/reporting implications. May advise the client on improvement opportunities that solve business process and technical issues of varying complexities. This is technical and analytical work to develop, design, test, validate and/or analyze technical solutions for clients through an appropriate blending of technical knowledge and business problem solving activities.

Accountabilities:

  • Interviews stakeholders in conducting requirement gathering, document requirements in the deployment of business data modeling and reporting solutions
  • Liaises with users in assessment, development, and testing of business solutions.
  • Develops and analyzes solutions to business issues, including review and writing of all relevant documentation, including but not limited to functional and technical design requirements.
  • Assists in overseeing the development of technical design requirements with developers, programmers, and external suppliers during the development life cycle.
  • Writes and edits program and system documentation, user manuals, and training materials required to help people use and operate a system or solution.
  • Leads data analysis and validation of enterprise data assets.
  • Collaborates and assists in the design and testing of front-end user interfaces and interactive procedures / tools.
  • Assesses how well a report or solution adheres to its design, standards, as well as its usability and ability to meet business needs.
  • Assists in ranking and prioritizing work intake requests
  • Provides quality client support by, researching possible solutions to problems, and fostering open communication between the client and the project team, tracking solution and documentation defects, performing solution maintenance, and providing consulting and training as the need arises.
  • Works with developers, analysts and data or process stewards to identify, diagnose, and document problems and errors in specific components of a system or solution.
  • Liaises with system and business data stewards and owners regarding enterprise data and data governance issues to continually improve data quality, standardization and usability.
  • Follows, reinforces and promotes team standards for continuous process improvement, quality data products, and enterprise data management and governance.
  • Identifies and raises data governance and master data management issues for resolution
  • Follows, reinforces and promotes organizational diversity, equity and inclusion principles in all internal and external interactions.
  • Continually develops knowledge of a client’s business processes and objectives in order to help the client in a problem-solving role to assess user requirements, procedures, and problems to create or improve a system or solution.

  • Reads, writes and speaks English; fluent in host country language as appropriate.

  • Obtains relevant information from client in order to sufficiently explain and document requirements to a technical expert. Independently resolves routine problems.

Supervision Given/Received:

  • Works as a team member by doing own share of work and listening to and acting on expressed needs.
  • Typically reports to a Manager or Associate Director.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent • Data Science/Analytics, Business Administration/ Intelligence, Statistics, Economics/Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technologies or Related Field.

Experience:

  • Typically requires 5 – 8 years of work experience (business analysis, data analysis, related project management, related graduate level coursework). Majority of experience should be on the job and not academic.
  • Knowledge and experience of databases (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).
  • Capability to interpret and perform intermediate Excel functions.
  • Experienced with gathering and documenting requirements, performing data analysis and testing.
  • Strong project management and presentation/facilitation skills. Experience with task management software and Agile development preferred.
  • Basic SQL is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience supporting BA activities related to development of reports or business intelligence tools is required (Power BI, Tableau UI/UX, Cognos, SAS, Minitab, etc.). Power BI experience is strongly preferred.
  • Prior education or work experience in business or data analytics, accounting/finance/economics is preferred.
  • Prior work experience with financial or enterprise data is preferred.
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is preferred.

  • Ability to work during U.S. Eastern time zone office hours.

The expected hiring salary range for this role is listed below. FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.

Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.

Hiring Salary Range: $91,000 – $110,000
