icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for consultancy with the Emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division.

Assignment / Activity: The consultant will be the part of CRG initiative in Bangladesh focusing on alleviating human rights and gender barriers to TB services and addressing TB stigma and discrimination in communities, health care settings, and workplaces. He/She will be leading the assigned components regarding the assessment of the range of TB related stigma and Gender-Based Violence under the project.

Location: Dhaka / Abroad

Expected start date of assignment: August 2023

Duration: 4 months

Scope of work:

The consultant will work closely with icddr,b, Global Fund and its consultants, National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP) and other in-country stakeholders to conduct the assessment/study. The initial purpose of the position is to be the resource person on every step of the assessment such as developing proposals, capacity development training of the staff, assisting field implementation or data collection, data analysis and writing reports which is relevant to Gender-based Violence of the project.

S/he reports to the Senior Scientist and Head, PEI, IDD.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Develop detailed research design, methodology and data collection tool to achieve the study objectives for research projects;
• Contribute to the development of protocol with the team;
• Provide all sorts of technical support to design training guidance for data collectors;
• Train data collectors and field teams on the developed data collection tools;
• Contribute to scientific analysis to derive meaningful scientific inferences from data;
• Guide team members on the completion of tasks, activities, reports and documents;
• Contribute to writing reports and support scientific manuscript development;
• Undertake other TB-related activities under ongoing projects, as required.

Expected deliverables:

• Project proposal developed;
• Capacity development of the staff;
• Field Implementation Monitoring is assessed and updated;
• Data are effectively analyzed;
• Results and recommendations are properly reported.

Required qualifications and experience:

• MBBS with MPH or Masters in other development disciplines with a good academic record;
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in the TB field including working in the international development agencies or donor agencies;
• At least two publications as first or second author in an international peer-reviewed journal will be considered an asset;
• The consultant must have a good command in English.
