Assignment / Activity: Evidence synthesis to understand the street food hygiene in low resource settings]
Location: Mohakhali, Dhaka
Expected start date of assignment: May 2023
Duration: 6 months
Scope of work:
The consultant will contribute to the study titled “evidence synthesis to Understand the street food hygiene in low resource settings”. She/He will provide her/his expert guidance on Synthesizing. The determinants of food hygiene behaviour among street food vendors, the effects of food hygiene interventions for street food vendors on safe food handling knowledge, attitude, and practices and microbiological contamination of street food in low resource settings, the effects of food hygiene interventions for consumers on safe street food consumption in low-resource settings, engage relevant stakeholders in the study process and develop a draft proposal on street food hygiene
Specific responsibilities include:
- Guiding to draft of the scoping review protocol, and the search terms for the scoping review;
- Review 10% of inclusion ad exclusion criteria during literature screening;
- Support drafting protocol manuscript, provide guidance and feedback on data extraction
- Conduct a Narrative Synthesis of findings from the review for Objectives one to Three;
- Daft reports regularly to the donor for fulfil milestones of the project;
- Draft manuscripts for Objectives one to three of the scoping review;
- Present study findings to conference when needed;
- Attend weekly Zoom calls with the team;
- To participate in developing the research proposal develop from the review findings and the outcome of the stakeholder’s workshop.
Expected deliverables:
- Scoping review protocol developed and reviewed by the study team and shared with RGHI (Donor) and received IRB approval. A PRISMA flow chart illustrating the study selection process, search strategy for one database and screening results shared with RGHI and Completed data extraction matrix shared with RGHI and 6 monthly millstone reports submitted to the donor by June 2023
- The findings from studies identified/ charted will be analyzed/synthesized and tables with results shared with RGHI by August 2023
- At least one manuscript submitted to a peer-reviewed Journal and a draft proposal on street food hygiene developed by October 2023
Required qualifications and experience:
- PhD Degree in Epidemiology and Environmental Health with a good academic record;
- Minimum 12 years of experience in Water sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) research;
- Track record in conducting WASH and food hygiene-related research;
- Skills and experiences in conducting behaviour change research;
- At least 10 publications in a peer-reviewed journal while at least 3 articles as lead author.
