icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for consultancy with the Development and Communication Unit under Office of Executive Director.
Assignment/Activity: The objective of this consultancy is to diversify icddrb’s donor base in order to secure the sustainability of its core services into the future. This consultancy will target international fundraising efforts through sourcing and onboarding major donors to augment icddr,b Development Team’s overall strategy, headed by Head, Development. Specifically, this strategic consultancy will plan, research, develop, execute and report on a tailored international fundraising strategy targeting: (1) High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) in Australia including icddr,b alumni and (2) Bangladeshi Diaspora in Australia.
Location: Dhaka /Abroad
Expected start date of assignment: October 2023
Duration: 6 Months
Scope of work: The consultant will report to his/her respective supervisor and s/he will complete the assigned tasks as planned under the Terms of References (ToR).
Specific Responsibilities:
To be implemented in partnership with icddr,b Development Team and senior leadership:
1) High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) in Australia including icddr,b alumni
- Prospect research of icddr,b friends including past and present board members, alumni, collaborators, visitors and donors
- Review, refine and tailor an integrated case for support and effective impact messaging materials for icddr,b friends using a bespoke approach
- Develop tailored strategies and outreach initiatives to each group of icddr,b friends
- Review donation history to identify opportunities for donor retention and conversion to major donors
- Identify opportunities for events, campaigns, cultivation and stewardship services for friends of iccdr,b in Australia
- Cultivate identified potential donors and solicit donation
2) Bangladeshi Diaspora in Australia
- Prospect research of international diaspora
- Develop innovative ways to tap into diaspora networks
- Develop tailored strategies and outreach initiatives for the diaspora
- Cultivate identified potential donors and solicit donations
Consultancy duration, Terms and Travel requirements:
- An initial 6-month engagement commencing October 2023 with the option for renewal and revision of scope of work, subject to performance and organizational needs to be determined by icddr,b
- Consultancy will be focused in Australia with flexibility to expand to the Asia Pacific region and globally as opportunities arise
- Submission of monthly progress report and deliverables to Head, Development Unit at icddr,b
- Consultancy fee of USD 4000 net (excluding VAT and Tax)
- 8% commission on raised funds (exclusive of Tax & VAT)
- Prior approval from icddr,b to cover incidental expenses as and when required
- Access to online fundraising subscriptions provided by icddr,b
- Support from icddr,b Development Team and senior leadership as required
- Provision to icddr,b Development Team of regular progress updates via emails and/or virtual meetings as required
Key performance indicators:
- Regular reports on prospect search
- Tailored strategies for HNWIs and diaspora
- Events, campaigns organized for outreach
- Reports on networking
- Reports on committed donations
Expected deliverables:
- Periodic reports
- Donations for HEF
Required completion date: 31 March 2024
Required qualifications and experience:
- Masters in any relevant field
- 10-15 years’ work experience on health sector and 3-5 years’ work experience to raise funds for health services.
- Ability to understand the core business of the institution.
- Must be able to prepare case for support for fund raising.
- Should have the capacity to map the funding scenario.
- Must be able to represent the client to donors based in different parts of the world; especially in Australia.
