GGGI has a diverse portfolio of programs in developing countries around the world. These in-country programs, together with global products and services, focus on delivering results through an integrated approach of evidence-based green growth planning and implementation aligned to countries’ development priorities. The organization also focuses on knowledge development and management activities which build a strong theoretical and empirical basis for green growth, while providing concrete options and guidance for policymakers; as well as building the conditions for public and private green infrastructure investments.
GGGI Cambodia is hosted by the Ministry of Environment (MOE) and work closely other line ministries including Ministry of Public Work and Transport (MPWT), Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). At the municipality level, GGGI Cambodia supports Phnom Penh City Hall, Municipalities of Kep, Sihanoukville, Suong, Bavet, Battambang, Siem Reap and Kampong Cham.
GGGI’s Cambodia program offers policy and investment advice to several national and municipal counterparts with the objective of promoting sustainable urban development. Based on “green city strategies” which GGGI developed with 8 Cambodian cities, the current portfolio of projects covers sustainable energy, waste management, and green mobility. The objective of the program is to support green city planning by diffusing green growth concept and instruments as well as to assist in the development of bankable green city projects that result in climate change resilience and improved livelihoods for Cambodia’s urban poor.
The Cambodia country program is expanding its portfolio in urban sanitation and municipal solid waste sectors. GGGI will be initiating two programs, one each, in urban sanitation and municipal solid waste management to support the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and select Sub-National Governments in improving the service delivery and infrastructure.
To facilitate and guide these new initiatives, GGGI Cambodia country office intends to appoint a Senior Sanitation and Waste expert. This appointment shall be for an initial duration of 1 year with the possibility of expansion for another year.
The Senior Sanitation and Waste Analyst will be based in GGGI Cambodia country office on a full-time basis and report to Regional Circular Economy Lead. S/he will support the Cambodia country program in implementation of the projects in sanitation and waste sector. S/he will have the responsibility of developing sector profiles, drafting regulations and policies, developing a project pipeline for investments and engaging with private and public stakeholders proactively and independently. S/he will work closely with MPWT, MOE, sub-national governments, other GGGI country teams and experts at HQ, other development partners and private sector stakeholders.

The candidate shall be a Cambodian national with engineering / policy background and extensive experience in sanitation and municipal solid waste sectors in Cambodia. The candidate shall be analytically strong and have good experience in writing and developing technical reports in English language.
