NRC is looking for a Camp Management Project Manager to join the Afghanistan mission. The role holder will be responsible for the overall planning and implementation of NRC’s Camp Management projects in Central and East region. He/she will be responsible for the annual planning and implementation of the project according to donor proposals, budgets, Camp Management Strategy, and the technical advice provided by the country office Programme Management Unit.

What You Will Do

  • Strategy development.
  • Technical direction and assurance of high quality of projects and documentation.
  • Resource and Budget management.
  • Line management of staff. Staff capacity building and transfer of skills, training, and support in accordance with capacity gaps and training needs.
  • Integration of services in targeted areas.
  • Stakeholder engagement and liaison.

What You Will Bring

  • Project management experience in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Camp management, protection, community outreach/engagement, community capacity building, and / or community development knowledge and exposure.
  • Cash-based interventions and market-based programmes experience.
  • Project cycle management expertise.
  • People leadership track record.
  • Complex, and volatile context exposure, in camps or camp-like settings.
  • Afghanistan context exposure and knowledge.
  • English fluency, both written and verbal. Knowledge of the local language (Dari and Pashto).

  • The Central & East Area Office comprises of a diverse and committed team of 400 staff, a portfolio of NOK. 70 million, six thematic areas, emergency responses teams, and two camps in earthquake-response areas.
  • This is an opportunity to contribute to the protection and assistance of vulnerable and crisis-affected women, girls, boys, and men. NRC Afghanistan is one of the leading humanitarian response agencies (particularly for Afghans forced to flee), maintaining a presence of 12 offices and over 1,000 staff in 14 provinces across the country.
  • The Camp Management projects support the impoverished sudden and protracted urban displaced with an integrated approach to support towards durable solutions, integrated programming, and protective environments. The projects ensure an adequate and accountable protection and assistance response to these displacement-affected communities by establishing mechanisms Mobile Outreach Teams, establishing Community Centres, and establishing and training IDP Community Committees to enhance Communication with Communities, Community Engagement, and Support to Coordination.
