Context
IOM operates Five Accommodation Centers for Unaccompanied Minors (Shelters) providing accommodation and access to services for Unaccompanied Migrant Children (UMC). Besides accommodation, the following services are provided to the beneficiaries: addressing basic needs, catering, hygiene, legal counselling, and information about life opportunities in Greece, interpretation, psychosocial support, medical support, Greek learning programs, learning support, organization of intercultural activities, work and career guidance.
Within the framework of the action “Subsidy N.P. INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR MIGRATION (IOM) MISSION GREECE for the implementation of the project “Operation of K.F.A.A. Patra”” with MIS Code 6016489 the Program “Greece Programme – Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027”.
Under the overall supervision of the Project Coordinator or their designate and the direct supervision of the Shelter Coordinator, the successful candidate will perform routine duties related to the assistance, care and provision of services to the UMCs residing in the assigned shelter.
Assist in the daily operations of the center, according to the instructions and suggestions of the shelter coordinator and the scientific responsible.
Ensure the implementation of the individual daily program of the beneficiaries in collaboration with the social worker; escort children to social and/or medical services when necessary.
Provide guidance and support to beneficiaries in maintaining rules of personal hygiene, cleanliness and home economy.
Update the coordinator about the adequacy of all necessary materials (personal hygiene items, clothing, footwear, clothing, stationery) and take care of their timely replenishment, receipt, storage, and maintenance.
Oversee and prevent any damage to equipment, facilities and building of the accommodation center, while educating minors in their respect and functional use.
Maintain and update the entry-exit book of minors and visitors of the center.
Handle crisis and emergency situations effectively ensuring timely notification of the scientific staff of the shift or the staff who are on call.
Communicate and coordinate with local authorities in case external or internal situations that may threaten the safety of minors and staff.
Ensure security of accommodated children on 24-hour shifts, including during night, weekends and public holidays.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Education
High school degree in Greece or proven attendance at a foreign school.
Experience or training in a subject relevant to child protection, protection of unaccompanied minors, vulnerability management, reception of applicants for international protection or integration of recognized beneficiaries of international protection
Familiar with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees and particularly with children;
Previous experience in a similar role preferred;
Experience with diverse populations and cultural sensitivity;
Experience working in a multi-cultural environment;
Willingness to work on day/night shifts, during holidays and weekends;
Positive records of previous experience in a similar field;
Valid driver’s license with at least five years of driving experience will be an asset.

Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children;
Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures;
Strong organizational and facilitation skills, as well communication and interpersonal skills with minors;
Understanding of child needs and ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children;
Strong understanding of stages of childhood development;
Ability to immediately respond to emergency /crisis situation according to the provided guidelines;
Proficient use of commonly used IT equipment and the appropriate software solutions;
Computer literacy in standard software applications (MS Office, etc.).
Languages
For all applicants, fluency in Greek is required (written and oral).
Working Knowledge of English or French or any other language would be considered as an asset.
