Job Description
Our specialist service works with male survivors of sexual violence and victims of crime across Queensland. In this role, you’ll provide a range of in person and online specialist supports to help them overcome the impact of experiencing the crime.

With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve – in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.

It takes all types of personalities and talents to drive our organisation– yours included. We value a healthy work-life balance and ensure our people feel connected to each other and our impact. Learn from inspiring people and grow from a connection to our strong local and global networks. From our programs to our support services – this is the place to realise your purpose.

A place to make a difference:

Here you’re empowered to make a difference in children’s lives by learning, sharing and collaborating to find new ways to solve problems.

This is a Part-Time maximum term role through to December 2024 (with strong potential for extension). The role will be 9 days per fortnight – 68.4 hours. You’ll provide counselling and case management support to male survivors of sexual violence and victims of violent crime. Based in Brisbane, you’ll be a member of our QLD Programs team and report to our Team Leader, Yasmin Paterson.

You will make a difference by:

  • Providing specialist support, psychoeducation, counselling, information, referrals and case management to individuals with complex needs and males who have experienced sexual assault and victims of crime
  • Conducting thorough risk and needs assessments, within a trauma informed case management framework
  • Offering specialist services including providing brief counselling interventions, completing financial assistance applications, and providing education on court processes
  • Assisting victims to develop emotional regulation strategies and providing additional holistic support

A place to feel valued:

You’re an experienced counsellor or case manager with high levels of initiative and flexibility alongside cultural sensitivity and knowledge. You’re able to respond calmly and effectively in complex situations. You possess a thorough understanding of the impact of violent crime and sexual assault and are able to apply that within a trauma-informed practice framework.

We recognise your contribution and provide you the support to ensure you can bring your best, knowing here you have the space and opportunity to grow.

Bringing your best every day, means:

  • A Bachelor of Counselling, Social Work, Psychology or relevant Human Service Qualification and/or significant experience in a similar service
  • Knowledge and understanding of impact of violent crime and sexual assault on individuals, and trauma-informed case management skills
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Current drivers’ licence
