DRC Syria

DRC has been actively operating in Syria since 2008 mainly supporting refugees. In June 2012, DRC was authorized by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) to expand its humanitarian efforts and provide assistance to IDPs and the vulnerable resident population countrywide. Since then, DRC activities have been focused on NFI distributions, Shelter, WASH, Protection, Education, Livelihoods, and Mine Risk Education in six Governorates (Damascus, Rural Damascus, Dara’a, Aleppo, Hama, and Homs). While Protection/community service activities are provided to beneficiaries throughout our six Community Centers.

About the job

The casual worker will assist in MEAL works for programming in the North Area office.

Responsibilities:

Monitoring:
• Support in carrying out MEAL quantitative and qualitative data collection activities at field level with the support of Kobo
• Support the piloting of monitoring tools to be used during activities and assistance
• During monitoring activities ensure beneficiaries are treated with respect, confidentiality and informed consent
• Support in carrying out data collection work, as needed
• Keep supervisors informed of any safety incident that might take place.

• Keep supervisors informed of any sensitive issues that might be observed at the field. This includes potential Protection cases.
• Keep supervisors informed of any problems and conflicts that might occur during monitoring and respond to minor complaints coming from beneficiaries

Reporting and information:
• Add to the weekly achievements and challenges to the Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant/Officer
• Participate in data inputs and data management
• Ensure that the activities are compliant with DRC accountability principles
• Support the implementation of DRC’s complaints mechanism.

Ensure beneficiary data integrity and a transparent distribution exercise.

  • Support mobilization of communities for the successful MEAL activities and ensure a good working relationship with field staff and local community.
  • Supervision of cash monthly distribution at the centers of the financial service provider. if required.
  • Support the appropriate feedback and complaints channels are present in project sites and support F-CRM team to regularly.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours, and capability to work in an insecure environment, adhering to DRC security and safety guidelines.
  • Good at Microsoft Office applications skills (Excel, Word, email)
  • Excellent communication skills, calm, with a good sense of working in intercultural environment.
  • Highly diplomatic and emotionally intelligent with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and results orientated.
  • INGO experience is an advantag

Education:

University or technical institute degree in any of the Economics, Administration, Business Management, Finance, International Relations, Development studies, computer science or other degree with years of relevant experience.

Languages:

  • Fluent in Arabic- written and spoken is essential.
  • Able to read English is an asset
