This position is located in the Service Delivery Pillar within the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS), based in Mogadishu. The Chief of Section, Air Operations reports directly to the Chief of Service Delivery.

Within the delegated authority, the Chief of Section, Air Operations Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

• Designs strategies for implementation of air transport related activities in the assigned field mission employing all available aviation resources. Manages and supervises the activities of the Air Operations and Movement Control Units guiding and coordinating the efforts of the several work groups towards the achievement of programme objectives. • Acts as a Certifying Officer for the air transport tasking with the overall responsibility for the efficient use and accurate accounting of all resources controlled and all expenditures made by the Air Operations and Movement Control units.

• Supervises the provision of reliable, cost effective and efficient movement services for transportation of passengers and cargo (including dangerous goods requiring special handling) within a field mission employing air and other modes of transportation and resolves conflicting priorities.
