Job Description

Our programs Play2Learn and Bringing up Great Kids support young vulnerable children across Australia to develop their social skills, independence and in turn their capacity to learn. We need you to join our passionate team to give these children an experience of quality early learning in Townsville.

54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities. From our programs to our support services – this is the place to realise your purpose.

A place to make a difference:

In this part-time, maximum term position (20 hours per week, Monday – Thursday, until 30 June 2026) you’ll support early childhood development and school readiness skills, and will facilitate improved relationships between parents and children. Working across different sites as part of our mobile service, you’ll work in a team to create an environment of trust and respect with families and children. You’ll be part of our QLD Programs team and report to our Team Leader.

You will make a difference by:

  • Assisting with the development and delivery of early learning programs
  • Working within a team to ensure programs are age and developmentally appropriate
  • Creating a welcoming and safe environment to encourage active participation
  • Growing an understanding of early learning amongst families and sharing your knowledge with community members

A place to feel valued:

You’re passionate about working with young children and parents and making a difference in their lives. Your sensitivity and community knowledge will see you build strong connections with families from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. You’re motivated, eager to learn and not afraid to jump in feet first to help make our programs successful.

This role requires:

  • Certificate II in Children’s Services or equivalent qualification is preferred
  • Experience working with children aged 0-5 and families in a group setting
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Experience facilitating group programs is desirable
  • Current valid driver’s licence

A place to belong:

At 54 reasons, we invest in the development and wellbeing of our people. Our workforce is approximately 600 people strong, and proudly diverse, whether in race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexuality, cultures and beliefs.

It takes all types of people to do the challenging work we do. We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team.
