The consultant will support the implementation of the implementation of the Kenya Urban Support Programme 2, and the EU Main and Flexible Actions in Kenya, through achieving these results: 1. Collect and analyse data and information and use it to provide recommendations within projects. 2. Enhanced partnerships and collaboration with Local and National Governments, UN, INGOs, NGO, civil society and refugee-led organizations during the project implementation. 3. Finalized reports for government, community and partner engagement, upon project implementation and completion. 4. Successful project implementation and utilization of key projects identified in the project.

Duties and Responsibilities
Background The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable human settlements development and the achievement of adequate shelter for all. For close to forty years, UN-Habitat has been working in human settlements throughout the world, focusing on building a brighter future for villages, towns, and cities of all sizes. The Urban Practices Branch (UPB) is the tools and methodology production center of the UN-Habitat that develops normative guidance and cutting-edge tools through communities of urban practices and is the operational level responsible to undertake technical cooperation projects, such as the construction of water and sanitation facilities, shelter and other work The Planning, Finance & Economy Section (PFES) is responsible to support urban and territorial planning at all scales including through the development of planning policy, norms and guidelines, urban Design and public space design, urban finance (municipal finance and urban development/projects finance), and local economic development. UN-Habitat headquarters, regional and country offices, and several partners deploy a wide range of planning projects and tools in different countries to bring together diverse solutions to address the commitments within the Global Compact on Refugees, Global Compact for Migration, Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, which include exploring “Alternatives to Camps”, supporting the paradigm shift towards the integration of refugee and host communities in combined programming, and development of sustainable and long-term solutions as part of multi-actor and comprehensive responses to “Leave No One Behind”, ensuring the most vulnerable populations are promoted and protected. Duties and responsibilities The consultant will be working under the direct supervision of Programme Management Officer within the Planning Finance and Economy section, of the Urban Practices Branch. He/she will interact with certain stakeholders supporting programmes led by the Programme Management Officer, and therefore he/she will be appointed based on securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity. Specific Responsibilities The purpose of this consultancy is to support the implementation of the Kenya Urban Support Programme 2, and the EU Main and Flexible Actions in Kenya. The consultant will also be requested to support ad hoc tasks which will contribute to furthering the work within the section and other activities on promotion of urban development in the Planning Finance and Economy Section. • Deliver on outputs for the KUSP 2 and EU Main and Flexible Actions in Kenya
Qualifications/special skills
Academic Qualifications : A minimum Recognized Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture is a requirement. Work Experience : At least 2 years experience in civil engineering is a requirement • Experience in development projects and previous collaboration with United Nations desirable
Languages
Language : English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this post, English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
